This is a fantastic idea. I'm already sad for members here who have passed on without our knowing.

Any time limit on how long a fan has been deceased? My dad was a big Seahawks fan and passed away in 1985. I have some pretty interesting tidbits associated with him that people might enjoy.

No time limit at all. Although he may not have been a .NET member(?), as your father, by proxy alone, works. Please share!

My dad was an avid Seahawk fan and lifelong football fan in general. He died of lung cancer in 1985, two days before his 60th birthday. He was a 2-3 pack a day smoker for the majority of his adult life. With his generation, i.e. the Greatest Generation, if you were a male that didn't smoke, you were thought to be weird.

One day with nothing better to do, I did an internet search on him as he had what even in his day was a unique name that's not going to produce a ton of hits like a John Smith or Bob Johnson. His name was Merlin Morehouse, so I thought I might find something on him. The first couple of hits were of my nephew, an MD who was named after his grandpa. Then I came across this, and what I saw gave me a really strange sensation:

My dad is in the picture on the far left. You have to expand the caption to see his name. He was a running back in the days of leather helmets and no face masks. I knew that he was stationed in Klamath Falls, but he never told me that he played football while he was there. If you follow the story in that link, you'll see that there was a very robust football program at military bases around the country during WW2, something that even a friend who was a career Navy man was unaware of.

Someday, I'd like to find someone who can enhance that photo, colorize it, and make it into a full-sized picture.

Aros, Thank you. I will be posting about a friend and our trip and our work. He was not a member here, but we met again in Cincy... and at an Ohio state game.
