Glad to hear this, but why only 2 years?
I'm not surprised. With the cap situation following the pandemic, it will probably be two years before the cap gets back to levels we were seeing before. That way he can play out this year, get a look at what the long term prospects with the cap are and go for another deal then.SeaMeat":288av6v7 said:Was a Poona fan all the way to UT.

^^^ THIS ^^^ Poona Ford is one of the unsung hero's for the Seattle Seahawks, and one of my favorite 'Undrafted' plyers of the last two years......Don't screw this one up John, he's earned the right to be moved to the front of the line :2thumbs:Fade":2hnlbj3r said:2 years? Don't you mean 5 years.

Same. When we signed him as an UDFA I was happy. Height be damned.
Being short gives him leverage under the OL's pads. :2thumbs:JayhawkMike":nng2t4y8 said:SeaMeat":nng2t4y8 said:Was a Poona fan all the way to UT.

Then over the long haul the contract gets cheaper and cheaper as bigger DT deals continue to be signed year after year. The guarantees run out after 2 years and the guy can be cut if he happens to fall off, which he likely won't.
This is just not the way to maximize the salary cap and maximize the ability to add to the roster.
But only 2 years has great flexibility for teh future… That they already traded for Jamal Adams. This team makes no sense. They're always saving this nest egg, that they inevitably blow on JAGs.
5 years = lower cap hit = better.
Should've only extended Pete two years so they could remain flexible there as well. If flexibility is that important.
