SB 37 vs. SB 48

So was looking for SBs to compare 48 to and I found that SB 37... Oak vs. TB had a lot of similarities

Both Superbowls:

-Pitted the #1 offense against the #1 defense
-Was a match between two current and/or former AFC West teams
-Ended in a blowout in which the #1 defense scored much more than the #1 offense
-The SB champion defeated the 49ers in the playoffs

Any others you guys can think of?

Unfortunately for both teams in SB 37 that would be either their last appearance in the playoffs (OAK) or their last victory in a playoff game (TB).

Both Wins were firsts for the respective franchise

Tampa didn't have a real QB though. I think that's where the biggest difference is between us and them.

In our case it was a wash.

The #1 Defense scored 8pts (Smith TD 6; Safety 2)
The #1 Offense scored 8pts (Thomas TD 6; Welker conversion 2)

This was huge.

It also didn't help that Oakland's center decided to go on holiday the night before the game.

Gruden not only knew the playbook but the audibles and line calls, Oakland did not change anything, the Bucs new what they were audibling to and what calls were made to what plays. On offense and defense.

Yes they were. Seattle spent it's first season (1976) in the NFC, while the Bucs spent their first season in the AFC. They switched to start the 77 season.

I sure do remember the "expansion" bowl. The Hawks got a win against the really bad Bucs.

TB was never an AFC team.

Yeah as pointed out in an earlier post, one season. The Seahawks were in the NFC for one season before switching conferences with Tampa Bay (I vaguely remember it was arranged that way for some TBD reason).

Hawks were NFC in 76, TB AFC. They switched conferences following year. Had something to do with both teams making the rounds with the established teams.
Hawks are the only team to switch conferences more than once.
God it so sweet to see the Hawks ruin Mr. Ed's day on Super Sunday.
