Who's idea was it do have all of these pass rushers? Also, I love the different combinations with our run stoppers DEs, pass rushing DTs, and the speed rushers DEs. The Nascar package is pretty cool and effective. Very excited to watch the Defensive Line the next two weeks against generally speaking pocket passers (Palmer, Clemmons). Clemmons can actually moving pretty well in the pocket and can advance the ball with his leg. It is not fair for this defense to go up against a pocket passer at Quarterback. Go Hawks!

At the end of last season Pete Carroll really emphasized his goal to get playoff games at home and he said to do that the pass rush must be improved. Well Check and Check on that Pete. He did exactly what he said would need to be done.

The gap between last year and this year is even bigger than that I feel.

Last year Clemons had 11.5 sacks which is around 1/3 of all the sacks for the team. The way to stop our pass rush was to stop Clemons and than it was non existent.

This year with it being spread out, it's much harder to stop and it shows with how many pressures we have.

More, but at the same time we don't need to. Mebane and Red are human walls. They may not have huge sack stats but they don't get enough credit. They take double teams more often than not, which really opens it up for our speed off the edge and/or the guy pulling and coming up the middle.

Rams and Bucs had great success running the ball against the Seahawks, and kept it close with ball control mainly because Quinn got trigger happy with pass-rush packages after the success they had vs the Cards on TNF.

Pass-rush will always sexy but the Big Ugly Beef is what wins games, can't concede the trench.

That SHOULD be less of an issue now that we've settled on who is in what role and what is most effective overall. I'm really anxious to see how we fare against the Rams this time around. The matchup against their O will be less meaningful unless we have something to play for, but how we fare against their D should be educational regardless. If our OL starters play, we can monitor for progress in pass pro from last year. If the backups are in, I REALLY want to see how Bailey and Bowie fare against them for an entire game.
