1st Round: (#32)

• Selection: D'Angelo Ponds: Corner Back: (Indiana): 5’9: 170 lbs: Leader. Productive. Winner. Dog. Let's start with his 6% missed tackle rate. Yes...he is tiny. Yes...he'll get bodied by dudes. I. DO. NOT. CARE. Turn on the tape and you'll find a lesser version of Devon Witherspoon. Spoon did go top 5 after all. Instinctive in coverage. Stays at the hips of WRs. Fires when he sees something. Competitive as hell. Checks every box for a Seahawks first rounder besides size. He can be a day 1 starter opposite Witherspoon or rotate in on 3rd downs if the team can re-sign either Witherspoon or Woolen. He's one hell of a gunner and punt blocker. He can play and will be willing to play special teams.

2nd Round: (#64)

• Selection: R Mason Thomas: Edge: (Oklahoma): 6’2: 249 lbs: Explosive. He's straight gas off the line. The Seahawks are missing a true speed rusher to add to their flavors of ice cream. You rotate Thomas in. He's not the best run defender and isn't the strongest but he can rush the passer by screaming off the edge. I think he can play a very specific role. He has a very deep bag of tricks to win.

3rd Round: (#96)

• Selection: Wydett Williams Jr.: Safety: (Ole Miss): 6’1: 202 lbs: Williams might not be the most athletic dude on at safety. He does almost everything at a good rate. Has versatility as a box safety and in single high. He was really productive in his lone season in the SEC. 3 picks and tons of pass break-ups. Really good in zone coverage. I can see him as the 3rd safety rotating in with Love and Okada (or Bryant). In my eyes, he plays a lot like Julian Love.

6th Round: (#21):

• Selection: Kaden Wetjen: Wide Receiver/KR/PR: (Iowa): 5’8: 195 lbs: Chasing edges. Wetjen is a weapon in the return game. Kick returner. Punt returner. Just in case Shaheed doesn't re-sign. He is someone who is a gamer. He'll also play gunner. Dareke Young is a UFA and you'll need to replace his ST production. He is developing as a WR but is very sudden in and out of his routes.

You're entitled to your opinion. I can't tell you how to think or feel.

I agree that they are undersized. I disagree that they aren't fits. Have you watched them play? Have you seen any of the players I've talked about? They play just like Seahawks defenders. Aggressive, smart, and under control.

D'Angelo Ponds is a zone CB that excels in reading the coverage. He is excellent at quarters/quarters (Which the Hawks do a lot). He has enough speed to stay with guys. Because he is short, he makes up for it with excellent timing and body positioning. He plays the run really well despite his size. He's one of the most instinctive and smart players in this draft class. I get it. Not many people are going to agree. I'm ok with dying on this hill alone. Ponds belong in the first round.

R Mason Thomas is a very interesting prospect. One of the more natural pass rushers in this class with tons of moves. You get him to play a very specific role with Mac's defense. You aren't asking him to play every down. You want him to threaten the edge or run those stunts. Quick get off. Tons in the tank.

You may not like them but I think they are real Seahawky and chances are Mac will like them.

He's a playmaker and when your drafting at our spot..most of the cream of the crop has been taken.. yet here's this guy... He would have to be able to blanket Puka.

Probabliy Michael Jackson... Panthers.. but yeah,m I don;'t know of anyone who has, thought perhaps a agile fast guy, that has faster reaction time than a guy like Riq might be a better match against him.

Puka is 6'2" and physical. Even if Ponds covers him like a blanket, Puka will just take the ball out of the air and then drag him for the first down. He has the same game as Tre Brown, just smaller.

I'd rather have the G from Oregon in that slot. The edge and the safety are okay, I guess. But the 6th rounder is a poor man's Rashid Shaheed.

I'm pretty sure Shaheed will re-sign, and with Horton's return I'm not sure WR is a priority. I don't see us getting away from 12 and 13 personnel much with a run-focused former TE coach as an OC.

I do wonder if Ponds is a fit for the Seahawks. He is really undersized comparative to the other CBs we have on the team. I like him, but more in the 2nd round range. I'd like the Seahawks to re-sign Josh Jobe and use a later round pick on CB.

If R Mason Thomas lasts to our 2nd round pick, then that would be an amazing selection. He loves football and has the quick twitch that our current OLB/DE don't have. Again though, he doesn't have the arm length that is preferred for the position. Regardless I would really like him would our 2nd round pick.

If we don't re-sign Coby Bryant, which I don't think we will, then it would be nice to pick up a safety somewhere in this draft. If the Oregon safety falls to us in the 1st round he would be a great selection for us. There are a few day two safeties that I like as well.

As much as I like Rashid Shaheed, I don't want the Seahawks to pay him his market value. He is an amazing return man, but he hasn't been the consistent deep threat playmaker as a WR. For whatever reason Shaheed and Darnold aren't on the same page, as Darnold is with the other WRs and TEs on the team. For that reason Kaden Wetjen would be a great alternative at a much cheaper price. Wetjen might be a must draft guy for the Seahawks.

A lot of things can change. I fully expect Walker, Jobe, and Shaheed to be back.

However, I really see a good opportunity to sign Erick Stokes (CB) to a 2-3 year deal if things don't work out with Jobe.

R Mason Thomas has the quickest get-off in this class and it's probably not close. He has shorter arms and he's short. Chances are he'll last past the 1st round if we follow past precedent at that position.

I absolutely dig this safety class from rounds 2-5. So many guys that I liked watching and I think makes sense for the Seahawks. I think they will come out of this draft with one.

Comparing Ponds to Tre Brown tells me you haven't actually watched Ponds play. You're just comparing sizes and not actual abilities.

I agree that WR isn't the biggest need but most of the time John Schneider taps into the strengths of the draft. WR is pretty deep.

The thing is Isaiah World isn't that good in my opinion.

This year's Riley Mills might actually be Chris Bell. The WR from Louisville.

He's 6'2 and 220 lbs. He's probably the most explosive WR in this class but tore his ACL recently. I don't think we need a WR this upcoming season but a year from now...you never know.

My big "go to" is the WR that catches the ball with his hands. Which is why I prefer:

Ja'Kobi Lane USC · WR · Junior

Lane had one of the best on-field sessions among the receivers, extending his hands to secure throws before they reached his body. He used his 80 3/4-inch wingspan and 10 1/2-inch hands to make two sensational leaping catches.

The former Trojan ran a solid 4.47-second 40 and jumped 40 inches in the vertical, as well. His performance helped him stand out among the other potential Day 2 picks at receiver.
