He created a huge divide on this team in its prime...its deserving...
If this is true why do almost all the players love him? They don’t see it that way but we’re sure it’s true because Sherman runs his mouth? He’s also the same dude that when he runs into Russ at public events he kisses his ass.

The idea that he alone split the team up when Earl was flipping off Pete, Sherman was bashing all the coaches in post game interviews etc I don’t think is accurate.

His stats did drop off considerably in that unfortunate season where Christine Michael led the team in rushing with fewer than 500 yards, but even then I wouldn't say he "sucked". I'm not his biggest fan, but I think the evidence points to him absolutely being a guy who elevates his teammates.

It was time to move on though. His skills were declining and he didn't want to be here any more. We got a bounty trading him. We got his best years, and were able to improve the team substantially when he left, as opposed to a situation like the Colts with Peyton Manning, where they had to watch the best QB in team history walk for nothing. It ended up being the best for all parties involved. A rare win-win.
His stats were actually good with zero running game and a bad line. The idea he fell off is vastly overstated

Russ went 1/3 on his 50/50 balls and threw the ball horizontal all game and the Steelers still won. That defense is impressive.

No but demanding handpicked oc's...his own cooking playback.. trying to get the most popular coach in team history fired with the gm and having the gall to go directly to the owner to do it..not giving his teammates his number...not being accountable when he screws up...whining to Pete when getting picked on in practice...having to be treated with kids gloves...he might of had some guys in his camp but I doubt he was as great a teammate as you think. Everyone loved ABD..what did he think?

Russ is back to being a really good game managing qb.

He's seemingly been humbled enough to do things like wear an armband and just be facilitator of a pretty simple, run based offense with a solid D - things he refused to do here and in Denver.

It speaks volumes that he could have completion percentages of 55, 59 and 64 percent in 3 of his 4 games and 0 to 1 TD to INT in the one he posted 70% plus in and they are still winning with him. His TD stats look great. Its just in context, he is settled nicely into the facilitator role and alloeing the team to win the games. If he can keep doing that and the team plays solid ball, he will do well.

LOL, he was never a game manager. You even wanted to bet that he would never start again as a QB. No NFL team wants him. Your hate for Russ is unreal and undeserved.

And Tomlin is just one hell of a coach too. He has Russ doing the things he's good at. Not having him do things he can't do any more.
And Big Ben is actually really similar to Russ in play style so he's used to that type of offense.

He's certainly been a game manager with the Steelers. But I think people are missing the mark on their evaluation. His numbers place him among the worst starting QBs in the league, sandwiched between Levis and Richardson in down-to-down efficiency.

You nailed the importance of context. Here, I think people see the wins and the TDs and assume he's doing well. However, dig a little deeper, and I'd say there's a 50/50 chance he gets benched before the end of the season.

He has managed to go 4-0. I'm sure Steelers fans are good with that. More importantly, Coach Tomlin made the right call and it's paying off.

Stats only get you so far. WINS are the true stat, the only stat that matters in the end. But I realize it's Russ, so really nothing he ever does is actually him. It's always some other factor. Meh. He's winning, he's having fun, it has zero impact on the Hawks. Cool.
No amount of dislike or denial is going to change the fact that he is 4-0 as the Steelers QB.

Agree. I dont think they will bencj him though. Although the pick he tossed sunday in the endzone had his OC cringing.

I think Peyton was a blessing in disguise for Russ. Watching him play, you can 100% see that they basically have him on the exact same gameplan SP put him on. Single read, if its not there, buy some time or hit your outlet. You can see they've built in a good bit of PA in the event defenses decide dtop an extra defender in the box and something opens up overtop. But other than that, the plan is very vanilla, which for Russ is fine. And i dont mean that in a negative sense. He was just never the xs and os qb, so high powered passing conceots are lost on him. But let him play within a system where the run game and D are legit and he is about as steady as you can get with the ability to make you pay if you arent careful.

Fields presents a different kind of threat. More potent overall maybe but not as steady as Russ... not as down to down reliable. Russ may not be the hilight reel he was anymore, but he also isnt going to turn the ball over much because as he has shown now with Pittsburgh and Denver he will just take the outlet, the incomplete or a sack if he isnt pretty sure he can complete the pass. I think Tomlin bring the defensive minded coach that he is is happy to take that and win the game on the ground and with his defense.

Perfect home for Russ.

It is a perfect spot for him. I expect their playoff results to look eerily similar to ours post 2018-ish. If either the defense or running game falters, they'll look really bad

That was a long time ago. He moved on, we moved on. It's just cool seeing him revamp his career a little. How he plays has no impact on the Hawks. It used to, but they got a haul for him, the Hawks are better for it. How he left sucked, zero denying that. But, old news. There's only one team in the NFL that truly matters. The Seattle Seahawks.
