I came across this video and it might be the most “real” I’ve seen Russ act. Oh sure there are still recognizable “Russisms” but for the most part it feels like Russ without the plastic, uber-rehearsed press conference babble.
Its goofy. The dude played hurt, never complained, never gave up and played hard even if they were down 30 at half like the Carolina game and was a warrior. I get people being mad at the ending even if I see it differently but what gets me is the revisionist history where they claim he wasn't great or didnt play his ass off for a decade. Those dudes come off as angy ex-girlfriends and it looks silly on their part. You can actively root he's terrible since he left, I totally get it....but dont tell me he wasn't a monster in his prime.Never forget - The franchices best QB ever was Satan.
It will always blow my mind that he is so hated by such a large group of fans.
I won't change your mind but I've heard multiple players who I trust more than Sherman and Baldwin who see it differently as well as people close to the team but people are free to believe what they want as none of us have the full picture. I think Russ definitely deserves some of the blame but it wasn't all him.I will forever believe this... he was at the epicenter of what destroyed the team that we all love. We finally get to the pinnacle... and the team implodes due, in part, to Me3.
And for that, he is persona non grata to me.
Never forget - The franchices best QB ever was Satan.
It will always blow my mind that he is so hated by such a large group of fans.
| Reason | Description |
|---|---|
| On-field frustration | Holds ball too long, takes sacks, misses open receivers, Super Bowl XLIX interception |
| Locker room division | Perceived favoritism, coddling from coaches, lack of connection with teammates, public criticism from ex-teammates |
| Off-field drama | Leaked stories about management, push for coach/GM firing, pushing for trade request privately, while lying to fans publicly about wanting to stay (two-faced) |
| Personality/perception | "Corny" persona, focus on branding, seen as inauthentic or robotic |
| Ego and brand focus | prioritizing personal brand and accolades over team goals, personal charity organization funding salaries instead of actual charitable work |

Seattle media people take after Seattle citizens. A bunch of passive-aggresses wusses who can't confront, ask hard questions, or do the hard thing, by and large. It's no surprise his typical act is ignored in other markets. For all of his media savvy, Wilson's magic didn't work in Denver or Pittsburgh. Here in Seattle, the love is still strong, even among folks who openly didn't want Wilson back. Wilson occupies a place deep inside some 12s' heart.
Good stuff - thanks for posting. A lot of the Russell-bashing leaves me scratching my head. I've got complaints about a lot of the Seahawks Super Bowl Champion players and their attitudes during the decline, but Russell - not so much.
When I advocated to sign Wilson for last season, when he was available for $ 1 mil a season, lo, let's say that my opinion was very unpopularDon't bother Runs, he is the anti-christ on this page, and it's the gift that keeps on giving. Next level hilarious.
Trust me on this, it's NOT worth the effort. Not even sort of.
Not a crazy idea, but I think it was Pete's system that made Russell successful. I'm still not understanding MacDonald's offensive plans. Hopeful though. When I advocated to sign Wilson for last season, when he was available for $ 1 mil a season, lo, let's say that my opinion was very unpopular![]()
I don't need to understand, I am here to cheer and praise. Not a crazy idea, but I think it was Pete's system that made Russell successful. I'm still not understanding MacDonald's offensive plans. Hopeful though.
