Maybe Quinn needs to change up the what the interior line guys are doing. Not as much penetration, more lateral movement? I don't know I'm not football coach, but something is broken. It's not fatigue for sure, this crap is happening from the opening snap. If anything the run defense got better later in the game.

Agreed with all the above. Wagner is just not a good player this year. His splash plays mask a lot of really awful discipline. I'd like to see Malc Smitty back in there until Wagner gets "right."

I think Bruce has struggled as well being consistent in the run game.

I think we need to see more Malcolm Smith on the field, our run D was pretty good with Wright-Wagner-Smith trio out there, since Bruce has been starting (and basically playing as an extra DE, thus making us only have 2 real LBers on the field) the run D has taken a hit. Also, yes Bobby hasn't been playing as great as he did last year and it has hurt us, but our DTs are getting around too much thus creating large running lanes between the tackles.

Something is very wrong with our run D, but of equal (if not greater) concern to me is our pass D on 3rd downs. That's been an albatross for years now.

We just gameplan to make second string running backs look like pro bowlers so that our competition over-compensates trying to stop them in future games and they end up losing, giving us the edge in the playoff race. That must be the brilliant strategy.

Seriously though, I have no idea how we are getting gashed like this other than selling out for a pass rush (which also didn't look very good today).

Its worth noting that Wagner is playing on one ankle. The guy came back freakishly soon from a high ankle sprain. He hasn't been moving as well and he's trying to compensate for it. We got beat on some trap plays last week and this week in the first half. With how aggressive the d line is, trap plays are going to work, it s a good reminder for the defense to stay disciplined, which they did when the Bucs went to it in the fourth quarter.

Last year they had a stretch where they had difficulty defending the run as well, but the numbers weren't as high, a lot of its schematic adjustments and an attitude adjustment away from getting fixed for the most part.

Sometimes they just need to tackle instead of trying to strip the ball. A lot of yards after contact seemed to follow failed attempts to pry the ball loose.

Then again, if they had managed to force a fumble, all might have been forgiven.

200 yards to St. Louis last week, ranked 24th in the league

That rank is a bit misleading, as St. Louis has been running the ball way better since Zac Stacy took the starting job.
