I mean, it's unnamed sources so it's all hearsay. Werder could have pulled the quote out of his rear or even been instructed by Seahawks management to attribute it to a player.

Hard for me to come down on anyone with this sort of thing, especially after it seemed certain reporters were inventing a lot of quotes for the Wilson and Lynch dramas last year (though I'm sure there were elements of truth to it).

This I can agree on. I should have put that caveat in the original question. Just like the Freeman Wilson report, one has to be suspicious of these type of comments. But if true, then my original question holds.

Then he'll still have 3 years left on his deal. He doesn't gain anything by sitting out the whole year. He'll be right back where he started, just a lot lighter in his wallet.

I don't get that correlation at all. The only thing it smacks of is a team confident in it's ability to win even though they be a man down. I want my players to feel that way! I know Pete does, he's said as much.

CB/S are all classified as DB's, and yes, safeties make less than corners. 6 of the top 50 may be the highest paid, but the drop-off is severe enough that the average crashes down to K/P/TE salaries.

The salary cap could be 10x higher than what it is and a lot players would still whine about only making X-amount just because marquee players at other positions are making more. Meanwhile, I could live comfortably for the rest of my life just off the interest alone from these outrageous contracts.

They did give him a slight bump. (To spread the money out more, and have lower cap hits.)

With RW they reduced his base salary 1.5 down to 700k this year. Would you call that tearing up his contract as well? NOPE.

Yup, he has to play 6 games to get an accrued season. If he doesn't play at all this year he would still have 3 years left on his contract.

Also on the flip side, do you think if we play excellent and win games, if he'd miss the team/playing ball and just decide to end the holdout? I mean, I don't know if Kam is really thinking with his emotions right now but at some point once the season officially starts, you have to wonder how it could effect him when he's at home watching his team winning... or possibly struggling.

I don't have an answer but I'm curious how the team would feel or react, especially Earl and Sherm, if we were to lose a couple of close games early on because of some poor plays by Bailey. Would they still understand where Kam is coming from or would they start resenting his behavior?
