It was quite upsetting watching Flynn on the sidelines after he was beat out of the starting spot. A less "pouty" teammate would have been walking around zapping his mates with one of those buzzer rings and secreting whoopee cushions on the bench. I don't recall seeing him making any of those twisty balloon sculptures, either. Not a once. The guy was clearly a bad teammate and worse....a bad egg.

And your a good egg?

Man, I really don't like this. It better be no worse than a 4th.

I'm sure they have a plan, I just don't like not knowing it lol. If Wilson goes down... then what?
I believe in PC and JS...but man, I agree. I'm not liking this at all either. Here's to hoping Wilson never goes down, because if he does we're screwed.

On a side note, 9 frikken pages of comments. Phhhht, I aint goin' there.

On a more serious note: The Raiders were paying Palmer 13 mil a year but they expect to pay Flynn 10 mil less?? That is ridiculous and Flynn's agent should definitely hold out for the same as what he was getting with us (or close). Especially since (barring anything crazy), Flynn will likely get the top spot in Oakland. I don't see a QB in this draft more (immediately) NFL ready than Matt Flynn. And Palmer? WTF is he thinking? 10 mil has been offered to that chump and he's passing? I would call Palmer a has been, except he never was. He had 2 good seasons, should have retired but the Raiders saved his ass from the scrap pile. This is how he shows his gratitude?

I'd be more concerned if he had a nonchalant attitude about it, but he doesn't. He's a competitor and he wants to play.

Several posters here seem to have forgotten the "attack posts and not posters" rule. And have forgotten all we have are opinons here and just because you don't agree with someone does not make them wrong nor you right.

cool it!

Exactly. All things considered, I think Flynn represented both his self and the team very well. On more than once occasion I witnessed him walk over to congratulate Wilson and it was actually RW that sorta' brushed him off. Not saying anything bad about RW, I don't know the dynamics of that relationship, but Flynn did make an effort. He's being compared to the likes of Scottie Pippen in here and I just never saw that. I wish him success.

Looks like a couple people that seem to be pretty knowledgeable are guessing a 6th this year and a conditional 4th or 5th next season. If it ends up being something similar to that I am happy.

While it would be great to have a starting caliber QB to backup Wilson if trading him means we can pick up someone else to make the team better this year and/or allows us to lockup Kam I think it is a win. Sure there is a risk wilson gets hurt and whoever we get to back him up isn't as good as Flynn but there is also a risk that if we keep flynn we might not be able to upgrade another position or resign Kam.

Why spend 7 million on a backup that if the season goes well never sees the field at an important time when we can use that money elsewhere.

Plus knowing our FO they will probably turn those 2 picks into a future star RT and WILL.

We should see what the Vikes will take for Joe Webb. I think he'd be an awesome fit and great understudy to Wilson.

I know it would be shortsighted of me since he is a decent prospect, but it would be really had for me to get excited about Webb after watching him in that playoff game. He was SO BAD.

No question. He was thrown to the lions, didn't do well and looked unprepared. But some of that has to go on the coaches. He is athletic and has a cannon arm. A VERY poor man's Russell Wilson and while I believe he can be coached up, I'd hope for him to never see significant playing time. I hope for no back up to see significant playing time (on this team). ;)

I am amazed at what some folks think we can get for Flynn when there is next to nothing for a market for him.

Sounds about right.

And regarding the earlier post by someone else... I wouldn't say Flynn looked 'pouty' last year. He had the standard expression of a backup quarterback. Kind of wanted to be out there, but knew there was no chance the way Wilson was playing. The $10m guaranteed to hold a clipboard probably soothed the pain.

Joe Webb made Christian Ponder look like a good QB. Pass.

Well, if you were hoping for Romo.....

Ponder IS a good QB compared to Webb. I am suggesting a cheap serviceable back up, that has some upside, in the extreme event he may be needed. BTW, I know several Vike fans that would rather see Webb than Ponder. But they are wrong too.

Well said. We praise calmness in quarterbacks, but somehow Flynn gets bashed for not being a fake, smiley cheerleader. I hear Tim Tebow can be had pretty cheap.
