We can't pay everyone... that is going to be the difficulty with this team very soon. Wilson, Thomas and Sherman all deserve a good payday. Hopefully these guys give us a discount to keep this team together.
If the NFL doesn't give the CAP a bump up, then the players will have to be reasonable with their expectations, because they might be able to go to another team and get the big raise they want, but it won't likely be to a team that is going to be contenders any time soon, and if you're okay with doing that, then you're in it just for the money.
Not saying that's wrong, but there's something to be said about that old phrase, when is enough, enough?
I think it should also be a consideration by some of these players, that they were passed over in the Draft, and some who weren't even drafted at all, and that the Seahawks took a chance on you for you because of your upside and potential that they saw in you when you're making your considerations for that payday check.

Personally I feel holding onto ET would be better than Sherman mainly because the top FS will make less than the top CB.
Where does this make ANY sense?!?
You already know that you're going to pay that going rate for your safety.
Schneider knows that they will likely have to be a little more creative with Wilson, AND the Sherman contracts, but I don't think either of these guys are going anywhere.
BUT averaging 1 pick out of every two games is pretty sensational, I mean 50% of the time?
You just don't find that kind of Corner but once in a Decade.

I think that keeping Earl and RW would be the biggest priorities. Earl is a vital piece to this defensive puzzle and allows us to play a one-high safety the majority of the time. From the rest of the league's games I have watched and not trying not to be a homer, I think Earl has established himself as the best FS in the league this year. Earl is leading the team in combined tackles with 59, 13 more than KJ. He also has four picks in eight games.

Earl's speed and his increasing ability to tackle and wrap up are making him, imo, more bang for your buck than Sherman. He will come cheaper than Sherm.

Is Sherman arguably the best corner in the league? If you look at his stats the last two seasons, I think he has a serious stake at that title. But he is going to want or he's going to get offered big money and it's going to be hard to pay him without some creative cap work.

Do I want Sherm gone? Not by any means. I want guys like him to stay on our team the majority of their careers.

I have always wondered this. Why not give them a huge signing bonus then a decent contract. We have an owner with the pockets. Signing bonus doesn't go against the cap right?

It does count against cap. Generally it is prorated over the life of the contract so if it was a $1,000,000 4 year contract it would add to the players salary each year at $250,000 (1,000,000/4).
