Jordyn Brooks Miami Dolphins · LB

For all that’s gone wrong in Miami this season, Brooks has been right. The sixth-year pro has been in the middle of everything for the Dolphins.

He leads the NFL with 125 combined tackles and 71 solo tackles on the season. No other player has more than 107 combined tackles. He’s added 2.5 sacks, 11 QB pressures, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

He leads the NFL with 43 run stops. When the ball is in play, odds are Brooks is sticking his nose in the fray.

In Week 11 alone, Brooks gobbled up a whopping 20 tackles. When he gets to the ball, he rarely misses. His 3.9 missed tackle rate ranks second in the NFL, per PFF. In a league in which tackling sometimes seems like a lost art, Brooks has been a beast.

Cool. I had to go check who else plays defense for them and it's pretty bleak in terms of talent.

....also he's on a terrible Miami team giving up the second most points in the AFC (and just a touchdown away from giving up the most points). Not sure total tackles is very meaningful here. I don't follow MIA or intend too, but if they're behind a lot and teams are running the ball to kill the clock, I reckon a lot of tackles will stack up.

Good for him though for making due with what you have.

Total tackles for a linebacker is a great stat, especially when he's also leading the league in run stops. You don't want your corners and safeties having the high tackle totals....because it means that whomever they're guarding is catching a lot of passes, or the running backs are getting past the front 7.

I think he has always been at least close to what he is this year. The knock has always been his game in coverage. And it's no different this year.

He was so underrated here. Mostly because he was played out of position. I would love to see him next to Jones.

Meh, Ernest Jones is my guy, Brooks was good here, but was never a leader of men even the year Bobby left Brooks never took over that leader position... I'll take Ernest...👍🏻

Brooks underwhelmed all but a multi game stretch in one season as a Hawk. He had really nice potential, but I seem to recall he and his agent had an inflated opinion of his value. Glad he's doing alright but I literally couldn't have cared less when he left and that hes not a Seahawk now.

I remember him. He's one of the reasons why the Seahawks got Ernest Jones. He left a void at LB when he signed with Miami last season. I'm grateful to him for that.
Ernest Jones was a result of the two guys we brought in to replace him being ineffective. If Brooks had stayed would could still have gotten Jones. Jones next to Brooks would undoubtedly been the top ILB tandem in the league.

Not complaining given the production we have had with Jones / Knight etal. Happy for Brooks.

Yeah, I'm in this boat. It's pretty hard to be critical of a defense that has blossomed like this one has. We're top 10 in both yards and points allowed. It's like complaining about the crack in the Liberty Bell.

Pretty much this for me. However, I think Brooks could have been a lot better with MM based on Jordyn's physical traits and MM's coaching ability.

I mainly posted this to show that Schneider's evaluation was right, and IMHO, the failure of Brooks was all on Pete.

Drafted in 2020, became a dolphin before the 2024 season.

Which is exactly my point. Brooks leaving caused a void and those signed initially to replace him were terrible - Dodson and Baker.
