I tuned into the end of the Baltimore Cincinnati game. Cincy tried a two point conversion to win the game versus overtime (Which I agree with). The refs miss defensive holding AND a facemask on Baltimore on the 2 point attempt. Game over. Baltimore wins. The rules in this sport are so absurd.

The holding looked like embellishment but the hands to the face should’ve been called.

The rules are fine, the idea that 7 refs have to watch numerous infractions on every play and decide which ones slide and which ones get a flag.

They could literally throw multiple flags in almost every play. That would completely kill the game. Not the refs fault.

Too bad that the best Bills, Bengals and Steelers teams in a while have to compete with the juggernaut Ravens with inevitable MVP, for the 1 AFC spot......just to qualify for a game against the Chiefs!

Honestly - we did shoot ourselves in the foot in the Rams game - our offense was horrid in the first quarter particularly.

BUT - the Rams won because the refs marched them down the field on penalties on 2 or 3 drives in the 3rd quarter.

Just before I put my foot through the TV - decided against it and called it off.

Leagues' looking as scripted as WWE lately. Just sayin.

It's not the refs..its the NFL!!!! They tell the refs how to call the game to get them to a desired ending for the purposes of storylines and most importantly $$$$$$$$$. Do we still have people out there that legit think it's still human error???

Ok, how do want them to call the game?
They could throw multiple flags on every play…
You guys cry when they call a penalty and cry when they don’t call one so which way do you want it…throw a flag on every play or eliminate all rules.

correctly I suppose. fouls should be called, can't just call fouls willy nilly on a whim.

Refs instinctively don't want THEIR call of a penalty to decide the outcome of the game... and therefore they tend to "swallow the whistle" on a pivotal play at the end of the game.

Fans want consistency... and that's what they should get.

The good... bad calls even out over the long haul so "Suck it up, Buttercup" is the usual retort to "We got screwed".

Just seems like if its potentially the very end of the game there has to be an easy way to get it right. Have a ref in the sky who tells the crew to huddle up and then just call the foul on the QB. You don't have to use it very often but how do you have a divisional game come down to that at this level with this much money involved? It's such an easy fix that its bizarre they don't get it right. We would never even have to know they did it behind the scenes.

What you say is just what "people always say". They can't watch tape, and call penalties NO, but they can catch the big ones if they are watching as problem areas. Obvious holds on the LOS, facemasks, interference et al. Last nights game saw multiple easy game changing misses. When the Ravens scored on that long TD after the half, a Raven player clearly blocked a Bengal in the back near the 10-15 yard line. He just cleared him out by pushing him out of the way of a potential tackle.. MISS.... At the end on the 2 pt play, the Ravens were clearly told to hold and obstruct. They didn't care if there was a penalty, it would only be 1 yard. Hold again, they would be at the half yard...do it again, they would be 9 inches away. The odds favor the offender. IDK how much they pay the officials, if they are full timers now, or not. They DEFINITELY need better ones. I can recall this year when the Hawks had a kick blocked, when the defenders pushed down the blocker and it wasn't called. It was addressed as not against the rules. That is not logical at all. The rules say the guy who breaks through and blocks the kick can't lean on the blocker, but his buddy can? THAT IS TOTAL BS, rules can't be for one defender or another... but they were.... Refs are screwed up clearly is my point.
