Considering LWilliams last 2 games (not to discount previous games), I hope they treat EJones the same way they treated LWilliams last year. JS has a roadmap to follow and EJones has an example of how it can be a big success. I have faith both sides already see the upside.

Listening to Wyman and Lofa talking about Jones yesterday, Lofa brought up some very good points and breakdowns on Jones. He said it's not the number of tackles so much, it's WHEN the tackles happen, and HOW they happen. I trust what these two former NFL linebackers have to say about a player quite a bit.
So, I stand corrected on the lead the team in tackles thing. Of course, I was corrected a LOT

I'll just say that how Lofa explained it made a lot of sense. He was gushing over Jones.

No, but not worried yet. They had to wait to see how much cap they get after this year's increase. After that, there will be some roster shuffling and deal jiggering to get room for his contract. Patience.

The annual gathering of the GMs and agents at the Combine is an important element is understanding the market for certain players facing potential extensions, trades and cuts.

I expect something will get done with Jones after the Combine and before the draft.

JS in his interview said teams don’t start getting an ideas on players markets until the end of the combine. That’s when legal tampering officially begins. You wont hear anything until then.

Signing jones is a priority but not a do or die situation.

I have every confidence we will get it done, but I fear losing Lockett will be part of the price tag.

Cutting Lockett is a foregone conclusion. We need that contract off the books. The question is can we get him back at a cost we can afford.

As for Jones, I believe he wants more than the market will offer. Once he sees this I think he re-signs here for fair market value.

Technically, he is until mid-March. But your point is valid, there isn't a lot of leverage right now. Once the cap is set and some roster and contract moves are made, we'll be able to put out an intelligent offer. Talks at the Combine help a lot.

Yes, I get the new league year hasn't started yet and he's technically under contract, but the person I was responding to was talking about a clause for matching other offers, so obviously they're talking about for when free agency starts.
