LOL at Marvin's title: "arrested for domestic dispute..."

McDonald was arrested for domestic violence and has been charged in Santa Clara County with a felony. A dispute is what we engage in on this board. People are not charged with domestic violence for a mere dispute, they can be charged if there is probable cause of both violence and the resulting injury against one's partner.

I will keep saying it, she won't cooperate with the investigation. The potential loss of money is going to affect her as much as him.

Lets keep a lid on the victim blaming until we hear what comes out. For all we know she's desperate to get away from him. I share some of your cynicism though but I think it's best to keep it under wraps.

It isn't just cynicism. As soon as McDonald promised the "truth" would come out, and called it a "crazy" situation, it mirrored language I have heard from a couple of relatives who were abusers of women, and kept getting away with it because as time would elapse, the reality of being alone/providing for themselves alone would set in and the women would come back. Even taking blame themselves for making him act a certain way. Which is bullshit, as we both know.

Cynicism and experience have made me realize that 90 percent of these things end without a real resolution.

Awaiting your response, Spin Boy......or should I say Captain Minimalizer?

Who really gives a pile of donkey shit. Him and rice deserve to be hung by the balls and women allowed to beat them to death. And yes Marvin I thin the idiot did something to put bruises on a pregnant woman. What big bad scary men these are to assault a woman. Wow I'm really impressed. More and more every year the nfl sickens me with the way they handle these situations.
GREAT post and by a Whiner fan no less. If this was ANY Seahawk, I'd feel the same way.

Sadly I believe Scott is correct that once the realization comes that the cash flow will end, she will get real quiet real fast. And like he said, this is most unfortunately the typical pattern in these situations.

From what I understand there were a number of other people at the party including some 49ers players. Will they all lie to the police to protect him? Maybe, but that could potentially get more of their players in trouble with the law.

I would expect the mushroom defense from teammates on pretty much any team. the police will be kept in the dark, and fed on shit.

After the Ahmad Brooks no prosecution situation I'm leaning to the side that nothing is going to ultimately happen as far as McDonald actually being prosecuted. In Brooks case they had 49er witnesses actually seeing Brooks beat his team mate over the head repeatedly with a bottle. Despite that, the Santa Clara prosecutor's office decided there was insufficient evidence to prosecute. I pretty much expect the same here.

And that was with signed statements and medical records available. The reason for pulling the warrant was due to supposed lack of evidence and yes there was a warrant issued that was ordered to be pulled by someone above the DA, just before y he were going to arrest him.

Apparently the police need to be present to have enough evidence

This is the Niners tenth arrest since the start of 2012 which is the most in the NFL. Yeah, they're above reproach. I do not think that word means what Harbaugh thinks it means.

That team just seems like a hot mess right now. Could be headed for a fall.

As long as there are judges and district attorneys in SC that don't have a luxury suite at the new niner stadium, niner players ARE above reproach. I expect another DA to have season tickets and another niner let loose with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Forget game suspensions. They need to start handing out time in prison for this shit.

Or put this dude in stocks and let pregnant women stone him.

Whether or not charges are brought against McDonald I expect Goodell to bring the hammer down on him sooner rather than later. After all the heat he got for the Rice suspension and after coming out with his new domestic violence policy just a couple of days ago to wide media exposure, he's not going to sit around waiting for the slow gears of the legal system to grind. Six games suspension is a minimum but since Goodell specifically mentioned hitting a pregnant woman as one of the factors that could merit a longer suspension, I think McDonald will get a minimum of eight games and it will happen this season.

My take was for the judicial system. Do we know if the NFL is going to wait for the judicial system to work everything out before doling out punishment like they usually do? That seems to be the loophole that every NFL player gets to use by pleading down and then the NFL does essentially nothing.

I don't want the NFL suspending players on hearsay. Especially in domestic abuse cases. Uninfortunately evidence isn't as clear cut as a drug/ped case.

A victim's statement to police and the police's own identification of bruises on her neck and arms are both reliable and admissible.

The video of Ray Rice was also technically "hearsay," but it would have constituted an exception to the hearsay rule that would have allowed its admission into evidence.

Maybe, maybe not. If she is pregnant with his child she can soak him for some very severe child support, and she is holding all the cards, and women are well AWARE of this fact!

Either way, it would mean less money for her if McDonald misses six game checks. Scotte's right, there's huge incentive for women to cover up abuse when they know huge amounts of money are involved.

And that doesn't even affect the percentage of signing bonus money the Niners might go after. Or potential earnings lost in future free agency.
