Agree, but that stat is meaningless if he isn’t in the game because of injury.Spohawks":3live74z said:4.0 yards per carry. Just keep giving him the rock and will just keep giving you a first down. Thats not horrible.
Two problems with that.Spohawks":2zu2lwpx said:4.0 yards per carry. Just keep giving him the rock and will just keep giving you a first down. Thats not horrible.
Then we should be referring to his career stats. He's averaging 5.1 yards per attempt (823 yards on 161 carries) which is excellent.Spin Doctor":onarqe4m said:1. It's an extremely small sample size.
That does limit his value tremendously but we can just put him on IR. This season there is no limit to player returns off IR, and players can come back after missing just three weeks.Spin Doctor":onarqe4m said:2. Penny can't stay on the field. At this point, regardless of his skill level he's taking up a roster space. He's spent more time injured at this point in his career than he has on the field.
Knowing that he has been good for us when healthy is critical to how we deal with a player who is often unavailable. If Penny misses most of the year but is available and helps us a win a key playoff game then it will have been very worth keeping him around this season.Sports Hernia":onarqe4m said:Agree, but that stat is meaningless if he isn’t in the game because of injury.
Penny is absolutely not a valuable addition to this team. How can you say that when he spends most of his time on the IR or injured? You absolutely cannot. Penny has 5.1 yards per carry over his career, but once again -- he's only been active in small spurts and has never been the primary threat. He's been used in limited spurts in a limited capacity. That sort of usage inflates YPC stats, and YPC stats in general aren't a good indication of how good a player actually is.AgentDib":pod3j8yc said:Then we should be referring to his career stats. Fans are always looking to find somebody they want off the team with no regard to the depth or overall roster makeup. Penny is a valuable addition to this team when healthy and when he isn't healthy we can put him on the IR list. He will be even less available if he isn't on the team at all.

Dude, you are totally, completely, and utterly obsessed.
Did you even notice that the Seahawks played really well today, on both sides of the ball, and started the season with a really good win on the road over a quality team, or were you too busy being absolutely enraged that the Seahawks took Penny 3 and a half years ago instead of the guy who suffered a horribly devastating knee injury in college?

Love what the Seahawks brought today. Has nothing to do with this thread. Don’t you want me to stay on topic on the Penny is Useless thread? You want me to make this a game comment thread? Are you the self appointed thread police? Pretty much everyone has joined me on the Penny is Bad Bus. Don’t care who gets on it or not.
