If Lynch slides in bounds the clock would have reached the 2 minute warning. The Saints had no timeouts. 1st, 2nd, 3rd down. 3 knees. 2 minutes off the clock. Game. Another first was not needed.
This was my initial thought too, but the ball was snapped on the Lynch TD play at 2:48 and he scored at 2:40. If he slides at 2:41, we have to run another play before the 2 minute warning. I think not sliding is fine in that situation.

To be fair, it would have been pretty close. That said, even if Seattle did need one more play, it still would have been smarter to slide. In that scenario, Seattle could have ran down the clock to 25 seconds or so before kicking a chipshot FG to make it a two score game, and that's if they don't pick up the first down.

The TD was a very cool moment, and I liked that Lynch gave the ball to Giacomini afterwards. I just hope that if that situation happens in the Super Bowl, Lynch will know that sliding is the championship play.

Random thought I had. Did anyone catch why Wilson decided to tuck and run up the gut when he had Harvin off to the right with 2 WRs vs 2 DBs with a lot of green grass in front mid-field?

There was a DE coming upfield but Harvin had no one around within 10 yds.

Yeah, I had no idea why Russell kept it. He had Harvin wide open and 2 WRs ready to block for him too. Would have been a huge gain or even a TD with how much space Percy had in front of him.

IMO I lie Russ.. but I wanna say that was one time where him being "short" probably didn't see Harvin

He saw him, you guys act like the rain didn't mess with Russell in anyway. The ball might've been too slippery to try it, and there was a defender RIGHT in between them.

More negativity. Bleh.

You can tell the Kool-Aid drinkers are at the height of their Baghdad Bob-like behavior when they start knocking Kearly for being negative.

We'll it would help if Kearly actually knew what he was talking about. Everyone on here seems to worship Kearly and take everything he says as fact. That 3rd down throw to Baldwin wasn't on Bevell. Wilson checked to that play due to the look that was given. That decision rests with Wilson.

He threw some terrible balls today and it was obvious the wind had a major impact. I'm glad we won. Infact I think this game was a lot like the Saints game of 2010. Marshawn goes Beastquake, however leaving a ton of time on the clock. To which Brees drove it down our throats and scored a TD. However, the onsides kick was easily recovered and the game over. Tate, not getting that ball really made me sweat, luckily the WR made the bonehead move of the forward pass.

I think the BIGGEST reason is he's missing Sidney, because Sid used to draw some extra guys at times that would get Tate or DB open. Other times Wilson had that trust in rice to toss it up for him.. Now with out rice he's slightly regressed.

I'm pretty sure other teams treated Tate like our #1 receiver back before Sidney tore his ACL. Sidney didn't do much for us. Also, Wilson has "regressed" over the last 5 games, long after Sidney was out.
