Question for any insider source about last year's FAs?

There used to be folks who had insider information that would from time to time drop some info on FAs activities. I know most, if not all decided to stop posting their scoops because of the reaction from posters here. I was wondering about last year's FAs.

We know the team brought in Shiancoe(?), Hutch, Flynn and Jones, signing 2 of them. I was wondering if any inside sources know other FAs the team wanted to bring in or at least contacted their agents?

Assholes calling them out and then chastising them if someone turned down an invitation or wasn't signed ruined that insightful information from being posted regularly. Those same asswipes figured if it wasn't done exactly the way it was posted that the insider was a liar and self promoting themselves in many retalitory posts.

Just wanted to say thanks for making .Net a little less special because of that.

We couldn't bring in any more free agents after that big contract we gave Carson Palmer.

That doesn't help.

There is a BAZAAR culture making such inside "scooping" uninviting. I LOATHE it.

That's bizarre, I didn't know that you could use BAZAAR like that.

Even if the info turned out to be false, it was still fun reading the rumors from guys who had a proven track record of accurate info. It made the offseason much more fun.

I really hate how some loud-mouthed people ruined the whole thing.

That guy with the constantly changing Carson Palmer info ruined it IMO.

Here is what I remember being told last year regarding FA:

-Matt Flynn was not someone they initially wanted, but that changed when his market dried up.

-Their interest in Manning was mostly for appearances, although if Manning had visited and begged us to sign him, I doubt they would have said no.

That was pretty much it. There was nothing regarding other FA moves/decisions regarding players such as Jason Jones, Red Bryant, Robert Gallery, etc.

Last year our general info on needs was very, very accurate, but the names were not. It's a reminder that draft boards do change and also that front offices can be CIA-like in their ability to feed misinformation.

As far as the hating on the sources, that was pretty lame, but everyone has their haters so it wasn't a big deal to me personally. It helped me appreciate what media members and reporters have to deal with.

As far as Palmer or that mystery QB we were told about during Manning-mania, it shows that many deals are made but few are finalized. Like a bill in congress, there are many steps through the process and many chances for something promising to end up dead on arrival. I help run a business and we've had sure sales that fell apart at the last minute, and sales that appeared quickly out of nowhere. The idea of holding someone to the fire because a trade didn't actually happen is very naive about how the process works.

This sort of post is exactly the reason we're unlikely to get any more inside info that IS accurate.

I know there were thoughts on Mario Williams and Brandon Carr that we fans had, just wondered if those type players ever got threw out there with more than just a passing fancy.

Just like the draft, I would imagine there is a list of FAs and their perspective ranking. Seattle had to do something with Red as well as Lynch, so I wouldn't expect their list was more than 8-10 deep, but the positions they were mulling over would have been something that tells you how they view the team.

The way they went after the older WRs in Antonio Bryant, Braylon Edwards and TO later. Bringing in Winslow and looking at Shiancoe while picking up Evan Moore is revealing versus bringing in Rudd but not really looking at DeMeco Ryans before drafting Wagner.

That is what I was looking to pick up on. You know, to help pass the time.

No, it isn't. The people that had relevant information for the most part were appreciated. Unfortunately the other 99% of "insider scoop" people were either making up stories to get attention, or hanging on vague information that wasn't much more informative than listening to PC/JS's interviews or press conferences. What ruined the environment of sharing information was the jokers who ran with bad/vague information and dismissed anyone who questioned or disagreed. I actually find it laughable that you would think that people calling out Traumahawk (or others) was/is a bigger problem than the elitist and argumentative nature some of the so called "insiders" had.

Pete was talking pass rush. So, either that is a smokescreen (which it is obvious we do need help there) or they plan on drafting for those spots.

With our cap in the future, I would say our FA activity will be low.

I was joking. Well, 98% joking, 2% underhanded jab at a certain draft blog site whose creator I have zero respect for.

I liked the inside sources. Even if they ended up not being proven true, they were still interesting, and brought about quality discussion.

I can commiserate with the guys who shared their insider reports on here a bit. I used to have an inside source with the Packers, and on two occasions, I shared the information that was passed onto me on message boards. Both times, the information did not materialize the way I reported it, and I was bashed badly, to the point where I stopped sharing information. The first one was something about Brett Favre that was supposed to happen, but didn't, which was dumb for me to pass on because you all know how wishy-washy he is (although this was before all the retirement stuff). The second one involved a player that I was told was going to be released on a certain day. He was not released that day, and was traded a few days later. Apparently, they were set to release him, but found a trade partner late in the process. Both situations made me look bad, but I wasn't making stories up. I just passed on what had been told to me.

Definitely true, but it didn't help that two of the people that we know have legit sources were led awry by one of those sources. That, along with Trauma's stupid Carson Palmer garbage, made anyone here with real sources more shy, I'm sure.

Exactly. After all the stress of last offseason I just can't bring myself to divulge any more inside information this year.

Sorry folks.

It's OK, we all have irrational hatred for something.

It's not irrational. It was personal and earned by somebody with no class.
