Firing Carroll would be a disaster.
He will never be more than a wildcard playoff team while here. I get that chafes some.
And he is an outright liability on gameday.
But he is also one of the few coaches that can make such an imbalanced roster even this competitive. He is also an extraordinary talent developer.
You cannot say other coaches would win more with this much talent, because the other coaches would never have had this much talent to win with in the first place. A lot of this raw talent turned into productive players has Carroll's stamp on it. Chris Carson is a good example.
Wilson is a great QB. Maybe a great offensive mind could use him better and take us farther.
But the chance of getting one of those coaches is slim. Even with the ability to dangle Wilson.
Plenty of 'sure thing' coaches turn into anything but. Carroll is a sure thing. You know you are making the playoffs. You just are not winning more than the wildcard game.
It could be much worse.
