One thing about Pete is he doesn't lie. Seriously. Ever.

No, but really, if he says something, and isn't just hinting at something, it's usually true. So unless Kearse gets hurt or something, I would expect him to be returning if that's what Pete said.

Pete doesn't lie. Lendale White told me so . . .

Clemons (inj), Avril (inj), Hill (inj), Lotulelei, Ware, Bowie (inj), and D Smith.

If Avril is a go, I'm thinking another LB or DB would be inactive. I just don't think he'll suit up. He hasn't even really played this offseason.

Think you hit the nail on the head. If a RB is inactive it will definitely be Ware over Michael. No need to have 2 FB's active.

I have never understood why there needs to be game day inactives in the first place. Why not allow everyone on the roster to dress for the game?

How is coleman going to be out, we do need a fullback yes?

If there's one thing i've learned this pre-season is, you never know what going to happen, seriously, who thought MRob would be gone or Winfield? I didn't see any of those coming. I'm not guessing on who's out and who's not, for all we know, clemons may come rushing out of the tunnel with harvin in full gear.. Ya ok maybe not.

Good question. Wonder the same myself, since I forget all the back and forth the NFLPA and NFL have done over the years. Found this:

The question then is, why have an inactive list? It's an attempt by the NFL to create a competitive balance on game day. Due to the brutal nature of the sport, a team can carry players on its 53 man roster that may be too injured to play in that game, but not so injured that they need to be put on Injured Reserve and miss the rest of the season.

Having an inactive list that removes 8 players on game day, basically guarantees that both teams will have the same number of healthy players available on game day, whether or not the 8 inactive players are truly injured. I do not know why 8 was chosen.

Gotta agree with Nate on this one. Mike Salk pointed it out a few times last year. The information Pete does give out is for the most part true.
When he wants to keep things under wraps he doesn't comment on it rather than give false information.

There are examples to the contrary, but generally what he does tell you in pressers is true.
