Pre-Season issues vs last year

So it seems with this pre-season we're already having issues such as:

Irvin suspended
Rice with Knee procedure
Harvin out 2/3rds of the season
Clemons recovering from tear
People like Chancellor, Wagner, Turbin, Carpenter, Rob on PUP list, seen limping, or not practicing for unknown reason.

Last year I don't remember reading nearly as many concerns. So my question is the pre-season this year looking worse than last year, or is it just that we have such high expectations this year that anything preventing a 100% Seahawk team just seems much scarier/worry-some.

Last year the #1 "issue" was QB. As exciting as Wilson was in the pre-season, it was still a great unknown going into the regular season and it stayed that way for the first part of the season, mostly because they were treating him with kid gloves.

IMO, the QB question mark far exceeds all of the issues you listed. All of those are manageable and mitigated ... but you can't force a franchise QB.

We have a franchise QB now, which makes it far more easier to deal with stuff. And frankly, sh*t happens in the NFL... suspensions, injuries, etc. The good teams rise above and find ways to win.

If this team is what we think they are, we are fine -- mostly because we have been blessed with #3.

Last year Irvin was a draft "nobody" prospect that everyone thought we reached for. And he had a lot of growing to do. This year he's gone for the first four games of the season, but not the preseason.
Rice had the procedure done which will beef up the knee, but he hasn't really been in doubt for the season.
Harvin wasn't with us last year; this year he's absent for much of the start of things.
Guys on the PUP or seen limping/not practicing have plenty of folks willing to take their spot from them. Turbin, for example, has Michael already excelling and probably breathing down his back.

The concerns weren't there because we were a growing team with a lot left to prove. This year these types of things are magnified because they're contrasted immediately with the popular opinion that we're Super Bowl favorites. I'm not worried.

And don't forget the panic over Marshawn Lynch's DUI.

Off the top of my head:

QB competition
Lynch DUI, Lynch availability for 1st game at AZ for injury reasons
Can Okung stay healthy?
Who replaces David Hawthorne?
WR Opposite Sidney Rice? (Edwards, Owens, Tate)
Can Rice stay healthy?
Baldwin's hamstring issues
WHY DID WE CUT WINSLOW!?!?!

Maybe he can just color that page silver and black and re-post it over at the Raider board.

Maybe not as many injured or gimpy players last year, but far more questions.

This year seems to be more about everyone (us fans) being figity and anxious... it's been kind of like let's get this rolling before somebody shoots a hole in it... this thing, this killing machine seems like it's been in place, ready and waiting for the season to get started since before the draft... and all of are just sitting around waiting for someone to pull the trigger, waiting for someone to poke it through the bars and swing the cage door open and let it out...

:sarcasm_on: Yeah don't recall too many preseason question marks or issues last year. Everything was pretty much settled headed into camp. ;)

 hopefully he didn't mark it down.

Oh he did. And he still won't admit he was wrong. Remember the piece on Flynn he wrote after he was traded. Had I not known, I would've thought it was written by Flynn's grandmother.
