With the Rookie QB's out there, I think one of them gets it, but he definitely deserves to be in the discussion.

Random DK story....

I was walking through a local Fred Meyers during the preseason wearing some Seahawks gear (as I so often am) one weekend morning and someone working in the meat department said he was excited about the team, and asked what I felt about the draft. He specifically said how much he loved the Colier Pick. I agreed and said I thought he'd be good for us, but I was excited about the potential for DK with Wilson as his QB. He kinda smirked and said he'd be a bust because all he can do is run go routes. I told the guy that he'll be working with great route runners like Lockette and that should improve his game, besides, if Wilson has someone winning go routes, there will be some really explosive plays.

Long story short, I am not totally surprised to see him succeed in this offense. I really am glad to see this kid is living up to his potential and hope he continues to improve. I am disappointed that Collier hasn't had any real success. I'm hoping things will align with him eventually though (sooner rather than later).

^^^^Spot on, he's been very average heading into this game where he benefited from a porous Bucs pass defense and great throws by RW.

The one thing I was impressed by was the sideline catch at the end of the game where he turns and positioned his body for the catch. When you are 6'4" and 230 lbs. YOU should be the one dictating body positioning.

He's my rookie of the year. So grateful that we have him for a few more years. I have a feeling he has a big payday in his future.

This may come down to what the Jags decide to do about their QB situation during this bye week.

Caveat to this is where Wilson places the ball based on what he see's also, having to adjust to the throw was great by DK, the route he scored on going away was him using his body and then after speed. Shows what he could do being hit in stride and breaking games open.

His acceleration on that play was jaw dropping. Left the defender (who the broadcast said had 4.4 speed) in the dust.

Do that and he'll be up there with Randy Moss for greatest season by a rookie WR.
The real question is whether Josh Gordon hits the ground running. I imagine it will be difficult to cover a WR trio of Gordon, Lockett and Metcalf , especially with the running threat of Carson and Wilson. I imagine Gordon will be the one who draws the weakest coverage given how effective Lockett and Metcalf have been so far, could mean the ball goes his way a lot more.

Very average? Compared to what?

As of a couple of games ago he was averaging 2.5 catches a game and was 67th in the NFL in receptions. He was also catching less than 50% of his targets. There were also several rookie receivers ahead of him.

HTH.

This board is captivated by single game stats and hyperbole. The Bucs are 31st in pass defense and he had a seldom used rookie covering him on many plays.

And, I am not trying to take anything away from DK, he had a very good game. Just trying to keep it in perspective.

Let's see how he does against SF.

Last receiver ROTY was Odell, and he went for 91rec, 1300 yards and 12TDs. Is Metcalf on pace for that? absolutely not, so he needs to increase his stats by quite a bit to win it, with Kyler, Jacobs and Minshew being media darlings

We def got lucky getting DK because Pete and John never pick a high name guy like him. I hope this opens the door for them to trust the big names sometimes and get some better talent in here.
