Ok I figured with cuts coming we could have a bit of fun with this and go position by position with .Nets experts to see what we end up with as keepers. Comments welcome, not included are those on injury lists or unable to perform.
Another multipurpose position where clear cut rolls may not be as they appear at Linebacker.
Linebackers
52 Bradford, Allen LB , Converted RB that has shown up in Pre Season, plays well when he's out there and shown up on special teams, they could keep him as a replacement for Farwell due to his instincts and speial teams ability and he's younger and cheaper to carry.
55 Farwell, Heath LB , As stated above, could be the odd man out based on younger guys stepping up, I lean that way. Cut
43 Knox, Kyle LB , Has made a few plays, but were all of a sudden blessed with impact guys all over at LB, Cut
46 Lotulelei, John LB , Kid in another year would be kept as a project, if he can slip thru would be a PS addition, also looks the part of a SS prospect, although we have not seen much of his pass defense, seems to come in to be a pure heat seeking missle. Cut PS if he gets thru waivers.
57 Morgan, Mike LB , Another one of those guys that has been hanging around on the fringe, I don't think he's special but we need actual linebacker depth and I think he stays for that purpose.
58 Powell, Ty LB , Shown the ability to get to the QB, Schofield, Irvin, Powell all vieing for this position along with Avril and Clemons once off IR, as a Rookie I think he is released and hoped to be on PS.
93 Schofield, O'Brien LB , Stepped up well, stays at least short term until we know Clems and Irvins status.
53 Smith, Malcolm LB , Stays
54 Wagner, Bobby LB , Stays
45 Wilkins, Craig LB , Cut, has not shown me anything, in fact I didn't know he was on the roster due to not seeing anything stand out in games played to date.
50 Wright, K.J. LB , Stays
87 Konz, Jameson LB/TE , The Konz, well we may bring him back again as a FB next year. Cut
Long Snappers
49 Gresham, Clint , Stays, you don't mess with a Long snapper thats proven in a run to the superbowl where 3 points could be a difference maker for the seasons success.
47 Nelson, Kyle , Cut.
Punter
9 Ryan, Jon, Yeah he stays one of the most unappreciated weapons we have unless were in a tight game and then he's worth his weight in gold.
