After using the Playoff Machine tool on espn, what the Hawks need to have happen and do is quite simple to understand.

First they must win out
Second they need to have the Saints lose at least one game

@@@@ UPDATE- Hawks do not need the Saints to lose

If this happens the Hawks get the #1 seed.

Three wins and a Saints loss gives the Hawks a decent shot at the Superbowl!!!!

How does a three-way tie w/ Hawks, Saints, and Pack shake out?

Actually you only illustrated part of the simple scenario where the hawks win out and get the #1 seed.

If the hawks win out and the packers win out I'm pretty sure the hawks get the #1 seed no matter what else happens. Kind of odd but I believe it's true.

Great Catch!!! All the Hawks have to do is win out and they get the #1 seed. Assumed since we lost to the Saints that we needed them to lose 1 but not true. Thank you for clarifying.

And what about winning a wild card?

What's a wild card?

Honestly all I care about is the division and #1 or 2 seed at this point. They have all but locked up a WC.

Well, not quite that simple. If the Packers lose, then there are problems. So the Hawks should become Packers fans now.

Wow, did not realize this. If the Hawks finish 13-3 or 12-4 in a 3 way tie with the Saints and the Packers we get the #1 seed (they can lose one game but the loss cannot be against the niners).
