Tired of HC taking responsibility yet still doing it over and over again.

He's 95-55 as Seattle's head coach, so despite your frustrations, he's right more often than he is wrong.

He has flaws and frustrating tendencies no doubt, but it is always important to keep some perspective.

He has been incredibly successful. However, AGAIN......it doesn't make it right when you're up 24 and you stop going for the throat. The team was blowing them out, at some point you have to adjust your coaching. There is nothing wrong with blowing a team out.

Great but the question is, has that been because of him or despite him. First he had a historic Defense to bail him out and a magician at QB so as long as it is close you have a chance, , So how much is really him? I am thinking not as much as you think.

Like I said the make of a great HC is adapting to what you have, and the situation, We don't do that, we have a mediocre at best defense, yet we play like it is still historic. We have an MVP Qb, yet we play like he is a scrub until we have no choice.

John don't let your biases against Carroll colour your judgment.

The team was a mess when it was taken over by Carroll and Schneider. They built a contender and have been for all but 1 season in the playoffs. Pete is doing something right for this to be happening. Sure there have been mistakes, some bad trades, players that didn't work out and one horrible critical call in XLIX that cost the team a possible 2nd Lomabardi Trophy in a row. Pete has flaws, but hey who doesn't. BTW the play call was made by Bevell who blamed a player for failure to go hard to the ball. Bevell never accepted responsibility for the call. Pete remained faithful to him and others in his coaching tree, when he should have cut bait. At times he is too faithful even in the face of strong evidence the assistant coach needs to be moved along. I believe he's always stepped up to the plate and acknowledged his failings which is a good sign but he often accepts blame that should correctly belong elsewhere.

It's easy to blame Carroll on "the buck stops here" line of thought but the truth is he insulates and protects his team and coaches when at times they need to feel the heat more. However, he sees that as his roll as a HC. He's a good coach and makes lots of good decisions but at times goes into the BIG BALLS PETE mentality and there thing can often go awry with his decisions. Sometimes his supporting cast is less capable and this season it appears Norton is not getting his job done well. notwithstanding the defensive failings the team is still 6-2 for the year. This is a good thing.

The leaders of the team have stepped up with Bobby and RW joining Pete in taking heat for the atrocious second half in Atlanta. I can't see how that could possibly be a bad thing.

Actually I am not biased against PC at all, I believe he can adjust and coach that way but is not. FYI great he inherited a mess, so lets just ignore what happening.

The bad thing is he has stepped up and taken heat for mistakes a lot, but then keeps making the same mistakes. At some point the steppign up get shollow when you keep doing it.

You state this as if it is fact. Like every OC/DC needs more heat then they usually are under. You probably are totally wrong and that adding more stress to a very stressful position is very likely to break more men than it will make them perform better.

I suspect Pete's approach it more likely to get the best out of his coaches. Personally I'm more likely to work harder for a guy that has my back and I'm more likely to perform poorly if you repeatedly throw me under the bus.

I personally think none of these guys deserve as much heat as they get from fans and the media who really know nothing about what it takes to be a professional football coach.

Carroll says it was his fault and these guys say different...the coaching is the common denominator though . like it or defend it .

Sounds like you want to blame Pete for the losses, and credit anyone but Pete for the wins. SMH

Has an NFL team ever acheived the type of record PC has with consistently poor coaching before? Maybe Switzer with the Cowboys.

Maybe what we are seeing is double historic? The best team ever with a terrible head coach? Lol

Doing what? Winning? Yeah, that's shallow.

Look, I get it - the wins aren't Patriots-style convincing, and they weren't against good teams for the most part. But the true indicator of failure would be losing. We need more talent, and we're probably falling short of the big dance this year because of Pete's failures drafting for the defensive line. But I'll still take winning every day.

Really this has been going on since day one, you have to remember Lynch asking Pete if they can score again during one broadcast.

This is not about status quo. It's about wanting more and knowing with a minor changebia philosophy we can have more.

Exactly. What's wrong with wanting more when it can be done with a minor change of philosophy.

We picked up Clowney and Ansah..Reed is back and Green is no longer a rookie.
I'm not sure what PC is supposed to do..He drafted Collier and that turd from M State.
He is trying but there was a lot of holes to fill..Two drafts isn't likely to fill everything.

What’s the old saying, QB takes more credit when the team wins and takes more heat when they lose?

In this case PC is taking on a lot more heat then he should.

I watched the game again. The team expected ATL to lay down in the 2nd half. They didn’t

The D, which played very well in the first half, gave up a 20+ yard TD run in which a lot of the players didn’t show maximum effort. At all. They didn’t fight off their blocks. It was down right appalling.

The O didn’t do any favors either. They went 3 and out on their first two possessions giving the D zero time to rest.

The team came out flat expecting ATL to just give up. To throw in the towel. They didn’t. I saw a very fired up ATL team. They wanted it more in the 2nd half. They were fired up after they shut down Carson on two consecutive 3rd down runs to open the second half.

For that, Pete should take heat. But, I also agree with Russ and BWags. They are team captains. There’s only so much rah rah stuff Pete can do. The players need to self motivate to keep their motor running hot, play to the level of a much more motivated ATL team. They didn’t. They need to held accountable because the coaches will call offensive and defensive players. It’s up to the players to show up and execute. They didn’t and it almost cost the team a win.

I hope this is a teachable moment.

But it didn’t cost a W and the team learned there is no free lunch.

Many here fail to recognize the Falcons are a professional football team with more than one really talented player. Those guys get paid too and they’d been taken to school in the 1st half. You can be sure that coaching staff was unhappy about it too.

We all would love to see a 48-0 thrashing handed out and maybe we will soon enough. The lesson was learned that maintaining an edge of intensity needs to happen whether the game is close or you are pasting the opponent. It was ugly to watch in the second half.

The leaders of the team stepped up and the message was clear.

There are lots of areas of the team that are in need of help but the his isn’t a bad team at all and could be pretty good if the tweaks can help.

Well, we saw what everyone in the world already knows: Julio Jones can't be covered, by anyone, period.
