Prosise will be surprisingly healthy all season, make a huge splash as a 3rd down back, sign a big FA deal with Washington or NYJ and then be injured for the rest of his career. We will reap a 4th round comp pick for him.

He is Paul Richardson 2.0.

If he gets injured any more this summer and Carroll insists on keeping him ; then it doesn't reflect well on Carroll . IMO

I've long felt that the 'Hawks weren't telling us the whole story on his injuries; I mean there is something wrong with this picture that he's still on the team after the string of injuries and unavailability. I think there are some dirty little secrets that only Pete, CJ, and the 'Hawks front office know about the situation, and the team equivalent of a gag order on those in the know.
I don't know why so many find this confusing. Prosise is under contract on a dirt cheap rookie deal and when he gets hurt we stick him on IR where he doesn't take up a roster slot. We'd obviously spend the draft pick on somebody else if we had a time machine, but now that he's on our team there's minimal downside to just hanging onto him and seeing if we can get any return on that investment before the rookie deal expires.

If Prosise makes the team as our third round back over McKissic and Homer than it's because he's better. We can stash either of them on the practice squad until Prosise gets hurt.

Dirt cheap ?....4 year deal was $3,112,464....2019>>>$745.000...so far he has only APPEARED in 16 games. Do the math ...he ain't dirt cheap . Carson's total contract was $2,465,140...$616,285 in year 4....he contributes ten fold what Prosise does or ever will.

Wishing him all the best, a healthy CJ can certainly help the team. That said, his skills overlap Penny's .... so chance of him making big impact is slim.

No body wishes him bad...but the guy needs to tap-out...but he won't...up to HC .IMO

Releasing injured players can be tricky...witness Malik MacDowell.

Besides being on a rookie contract, Pete and JS are obviously keen on his potential. With that said, if he actually stays on the field this year, I'm more worried about him showing out....and loosing him to the likes of the Jets, Colts....etc.

Others in this thread expressed similar concerns....sad way to look at it but, definitely a concern.

I'd like him to transition into a pure receiver. He's shown some explosiveness...from the backfield. Key word....backfield. Backfield + being prone to injury....not digging it.

We'll see.

His actual cap hit is $910k, which sounds expensive compared to somebody working at Home Depot but is cheap when it comes to NFL salaries (2019 average ~3.5m). The way the NFL cap works is that you only pay for the top 51 contracts and the minimum contract for a rookie this year is $500k. Keeping Prosise over McKissic for example would cost an additional $200k which is a small percentage of our $191 million salary. That's not going to influence their decision when it comes to who the best third down back on the roster is.

The big expense to Prosise was the third round draft pick we spent on him. He hasn't been worth that pick AT ALL but it is a sunk cost as this point. Cutting him because of it would feel good for some fans but be a poor decision, because prudent decisions should be based entirely on future expectations.

You're right that Chris Carson has been an outstanding value. You'll find nearly all NFL players are vastly overpaid if you use him as your comparison.

The Rule of 51 only applies in pre-season. After the final cut, all 53 salaries count against the cap.

"It was great having CJ healthy all offseason."

Well, yeah, the offseason is the time players should be healthy, barring serious injury from the previous regular season. That's the problem, going on 4 seasons now with Prosise, and the offseason is the only time we get to see CJ healthy, and he still has gotten hurt in the offseason in some years including this year.

I don't see what Pete can possibly expect from him, he's hardly available, and when he was last season, he didn't contribute anything.

Maybe I'm being a Debbie Downer, but I've just been done with the guy for quite some time, I'd rather them roll with McKissic or Homer. In hindsight, I'd say Prosise should have stayed at WR, I think taking the hits an RB takes really damaged him.

Prosise is due $745K in non-guaranteed salary in 2019. Until the Seahawks find someone who could be a better or cheaper option, (or fills a bigger hole on the 90-man roster, assuming the haters think he's #90 on the current roster), he should stay. Given his contract and current healthy status I doubt he'd clear waivers. Would seeing him on another team's roster really make Seahawks fans happy?

(That was a rhetorical question. No need for multiple 'YES!' posts. ;) )

That Paul Richardson comparison is a good one. Haven't kept tabs on PRich, post-Seahawks career, but now seeing that he only played in 7 games for Redskins last year and went on IR in November, shoulder injury.

Maybe we'll get a good contract year out of CJ, like what PRich did? We can hope...

...what if CJ actually remained able to play this year, and were a great change-of-pace back/wr for the Seahawks? a guy can dream... if CJ were actually productive, it would be a good thing. ymmv

It would be a good thing for the team, but it still might not be enough to sign him for a second deal.

Prosise started out as part of a set of Holiday China, then he developed a few cracks and Grandma used some repair porcelain on him, then he developed a few more chips and more repair but now isn't used to put out for those Dinners anymore, we have not got rid of him yet because he is part of the damn set. But one more chip or bump and that thing will be in the garbage.

Some players are not built to play pro football and they simply can’t stand up to the hitting, All evidence points to that being the reality for this player who likely would be hurt playing touch football.

I think we are in all likelihood watching his last preseason with the team. Too bad b/c he has intriguing physical abilities, but he can’t stay healthy enough to be consistently available or remotely dependable. It’s very hard to have a player justify having a roster spot if that player is rarely healthy and available to use his exceptional athletic ability.

I’d rather devote the practice reps to a player that will likely be available to play when needed. Prosise was injury prone in college and still is, and has been all his pro career, for him the clock is ticking loudly. He’s down to his last chance here or close to it.
