Where the picture gets curious is in the recent developments. The possibility of Percy going to IR was dangled not once, but twice. First in a PC press conference were he conceded that he may have to make a roster move (to IR) concerning Percy. Next, via radio, out the comes the carrot and stick again, as he paints the mental picture of Percy spending the entire off season rehabbing. No player in his right mind wants to do that if can help it..

Pete can be coy and vague at times, but I do think he's a straight shooter when it comes to being upfront about injuries, Harvin's included.

IMO two weeks ago he really didn't think Harvin would make it back for the playoffs. What's changed? Simple. Harvin's pleading and begging to get a chance this week and next to prove to Pete that he can contribute. My guess is Harvin is pushing the issue, and since we have a 1st round bye Pete is giving him a chance to run around and prove that he's ready.

Which is why I'm not getting too excited just yet. This is more about Pete giving Percy a shot out of respect for his tenacity, rather than him thinking Harvin is healthy.

For the record, Harvin was limited in practice. Ran routes vs air.

I'll give another ringing endorsement of Warden's post, with one possible exception.

I have no doubt that the Seahawks trainers, medical staff and coaches were being their extremely diligent selves. I also believe that Percy was faithfully following their regimen as well as being very honest about how the hip felt. I also have no doubt of Percy's desire get back on the field when his body was ready. After-all, he had tried once already. Naturally, he and the doctors would be even more conservative the second time.

No player in his right mind wants to do that if can help it.

My thinking is that those events helped Percy get past a final mental hurdle in time to start practicing during the ONLY remaining period available to prove he his ready...basically a 'now or you are shutdown' scenario that would still give him an entire off season to recover if he didn't pass the test in flying colors. I strongly doubt that Percy is at 100%, but he and all parties involved spent as much time as they possibly could to give him a fighting chance of playing this season. This is where they are at, and Pete skillfully set off the first alarm, hit the snooze bar then sent out the final message. Sort of like the conductor yelling out 'all aboard who's going aboard.' Masterful, IMO! Now we cross our fingers.
Agree with this speculation/scenario. It all changed very rapidly and this makes much sense.

Regardless of the "how" and "why", I'm stoked on the possibility of Percy suiting up for next week's game.

Can't wait to see how Bevell will spread the field east-to-west with Percy, Tate and Marshawn.

When it happens, the LBs of the teams we play will be highly stressed to contain our offensive weapons.

Even if he's in pain, or just sore, I think he can handle 3 games over a 4 week period.
Don't mean to correct u. But 3 games over 5 weeks, He would get the what I call the SB hype week, While the Pro Bowl is played, the players go to their little booths and do media interviews, and run around(usually sunny, warm USA) frigid, wet and cold NYC  I sure hope it's our guys and Percy in one of those booths. I have a feeling it will be. GO HAWKS!!

Ofcourse maybe you were not counting this week and meant from the divisional game to SB would be 4 weeks :thirishdrinkers:

Nothing against you and posting this

But I don't buy this chit at all. The media is just spinning the story again so they don't look as completely stupid for jumping to so many false conclusions and that their so called sources don't know squat.

On Sunday Harvin is a question mark but monday afternoon he is great. I do not buy that. Recovering from an injury is a slow gradual thing not an overnight sensation.

I also do not buy into the concept that Harvin was holding back. Rehab is extremely difficult process that requires an extraordinary effort from the athlete. It i one thing to rehab from an ankle injury because with some creative rehab you can still work on the other parts of the body, still can try to keep your cardio up. But hip and back injuries are much more challenge. There is no way I believe that Harvin did not want to be part of this team, part of this Super Bowl possibility. The only reasonable conclusion I can come up with is Harvin worked very hard to rehab his injury and overcome his setbacks, it just took time

This is what I truly believe of what went down. Pete Carroll had numerous meetings with Doctors, Schneider, trainers and Harvin on a daily basis, worked out the best plan to proceed. A constant watchful eye was kept on the situation to see if the plan was going forward. Observations and facts indicated things were working, if they were not going forward, Harvin would of being placed on IR. As the regular season was coming to a close reports from the doctors and training staff were encouraging. At the time they needed to free up a roster spot the Doctors, trainers and coaches thought he was very close to moving on to the next level. That he was ready for it. On Monday they proceeded to the next level and it went well. After more meeting with trainers doctors and coaches they determined that the next step is a full out practice. Tomorrow once again there will be meetings with Doctors, coaches, Harvin and trainers to determine on the best way to proceed. can they push him harder? do they need to limit his evolvement for a day? Does he have a set back? They will look at all the facts and make a decision off of that, in the same manor that they have all season long.

There is no logic in Harvin did not want to play, no logic in the Seahawks were playing games and holding him out till the playoffs, no logic to him not going on IR due to contract issues. Their are no conspiracy theories. That is just conclusions the media and fans came too on their own. The Seahawks and Harvin have kept very quiet about the whole affair which caused people to jump to conclusions without knowing the facts. Confidentiality with an employees health is the right way to go. The Seahawks managed this correctly.

So to sum up the entirety of Warden's response: "I call bs"

Interesting...

If he's worth the money Seattle gave him, and he shows it...good luck everybody else.

If he can't just run around with no pads and stick his head in huddles two days in a row, this is a lot more serious than we thought.

Nope. You would be doing exactly what everyone has been doing all along and ASSUMING something.

If Harvin can play in a key game, it is at least important we can turn to him.

So I agree it is important he practices. I don't trust his ability to contribute for multiple games, but as a bit of a booster? Sure. We lost the last game against SF and they are looking better since. We need the extra weapons where we can find them.

Do we use him against the Saints? I suppose it depends if we feel we can use him sparingly and still have him available for SF.

(I am assuming we play the Saints 1st and then SF second assuming Saints and SF win their 1st games?)

I have held it against Harvin all year because I see him as a threat to keeping Tate, since if given the choice between Tate and Harvin I would take Tate but fear the FO would do something silly like let Tate walk and keep Harvin.

That said, I cannot be that upset with FO for going all in this year. They knew we needed something to get past SF and it looks like Harvin was the investment we made. Thus far one that did not pan out but we still grabbed the division anyway. Now if Harvin helps us keep it and gets us to the NFC Championship? It was worthwhile. If not? Well the FO made a lot of great moves, you cannot depend on all of them to work out.

He needs to practice anyway. What makes me worry is that Harvin was a Viking back when the Vikings were in the playoffs and I don't remember him being a guy that really made a big enough difference in the playoffs either.

According to KIRO, Pete is saying that Harvin practiced in what would be called a limited fashion on Thursday and will do so again today

[urltargetblank]http://mynorthwest.com/292/2425745/Carroll-says-Harvin-will-be-somewhat-limited-on-Friday[/urltargetblank]

"We'll go today and see how it works out," Carroll said. "He did fine yesterday. It was limited what he did and he'll be somewhat limited today, but he'll do more everyday. He made it through and he's real positive about it and gonna see if he can make it, but we don't know."

For added Clarity:

Carroll emphasized that Harvin being back on the practice field is no guarantee that he will play next weekend.

"We don't know what's going to happen," he said, "but we'll go day to day on this one and kind of keep rooting for him."

Carroll was asked who will have the final say on whether or not Harvin plays.

"It depends how the decision goes," he said. "If it's a medical decision then the doctors will enter in. Otherwise, we need to see if we think he's ready, and that will be my decision."

There's time factor here--Harvin had to start practicing this week or PC would not have let him play in the Div game. I also inferred from the report that the IR deadline was coming up. He's a cutter like Tate--that's got to be hard on the hips. I'm sure he's playing in pain.

Listening to Tate on KIRO now and they asked him about Harvin. He said he thinks that Harvin will play and that after practice today the doctors will check him out and make sure everything is ok and if so then he should be ready to go next week. Obviously this is just Tate's opinion, but thought it was relevant especially with the part about seeing the doctor. Didn't sound like he hurt himself or anything, but that seeing the doctor was part of the plan to get cleared to play.

Also, Tate said he doesn't like running near Harvin because Percy makes him seem slow. he was sort of laughing when he said it, and we all know Golden isn't slow, but it was an interesting perception

Tate has been a playmaker, you don't let playmakers walk. Harvin will only be another threat with two playmakers. Add Baldwin and Kearse for possession guys and keep looking for the Harold Carmichael Receiver and or TE that we want. Rice I think would be the odd man out, especially with his knee issue now on top of all his other major injuries. He could be brought back at a discount as well. The Front office knows Wilson needs more weapons not less.

I am starting to get a gut feeling that Harvin finishes the season on the field and plays out whatever games remain. That no matter who comes to the Clink, he will be on the field for the divisional round.

I was initially thinking that maybe they would play him if the Hawks had to face the Niners run defense, so he could roll against their pass defense, but now I am just thinking it doesn't matter.

Harvin will demand double coverage just by being on the field. In reality, all he needs to do run a route and spread the field wide open for Tate, Doug, and Lynch to mop the floor and rake in the yards until they realize we just scored. May work for a couple plays when it counts.....? Keep their D guessing. Going to be fun to watch IF he gets out there, I believe he will. Can't wait to see what unfolds for our hawks.
