Can't wait for the 27 threads next year where we look at the 25% of draftees that land starting jobs and lament, "Why couldn't we have drafted him!?"

Our team is a perennial playoff team. Can we accept that our drafts are good enough?

They do fine, but for some reason have had some swing and miss going on in the 1st round. I prefer they trade down every time at this point. They do better work after the 1st round. In fact, from rounds 3-7 they are among the best in the league many times.

Sadly, no. Too many misses in the first round. Generally speaking, that's where your All-Pros reside. I certainly am not one to expect them to hit on all their first rounders, that would be ridiculous to expect that. However, two out of every four drafts wouldn't be unreasonable imo and sadly they haven't done that.

Im ok with drafting another RB next ytear. It wouldnt take much for us to be hurting at RB. I havent givin up hope. If we knew then Carson was going to be this good and stay healthy we never would have expected Penny to take away snaps. It would take a hell of a back to earn more snaps than he is getting now.

Just remember, we are one Carson injury away from a two-headed monster backfield of Prosise and Penny. It would be foolish for Pete to give up on either one. And replace Carson with... Travis Homer? Beats me. I honestly don't know how long Carson will hold up, as much punishment as he takes with that tough and physical running style. I do love Carson's game, and have no idea why anyone would think this 7th round draft choice is "overrated".

Also enjoyed Camano's comment and thought that Pete is giving Penny OJT as an inside runner, and looking for growth there. Now that he's said it, I happen to think that exactly how Pete's mind would work. Pete thought it would be a quicker process, apparently.

Of our two PBacks, Prosise is clearly the better inside runner at this point. I have a hunch Carson will miss some games this season. We'll see...

Penny is not a good back, yards per carry is a bad metric. Once upon a time Felix Jones regularly led the NFL in yards per carry. When he got more carries those numbers came down significantly. Penny is a very flawed running back. The first thing about Penny is his vision is marginal at best. He struggles to see creases through the middle unless it is obvious, staring him in the face. Penny also tends to dance around the LOS, very hesitant as a runner. Penny is also very bad at running through contact. He goes down way too easy through arm tackles.

Penny is not a good running back. He can only do one thing well, and that is bouncing runs to the outside, he is also okay as a receiver. What we essentially have is a third down back that is bad at pass blocking. Another thing to note is Penny looks lost at times in the offense. Whenever he is on the field it seems he needs a little extra direction from Wilson. I'm not sure he understands the offense well.
You may be correct however until I see Penny get 20 plus carries
for at least three games I'm not buying..
