The QB situation in Atl. just took another turn. Cousins now expected to be cut before he is due 10mil.

Kirk Cousins' divorce from the Falcons is expected to be finalized before his $10 million roster bonus is due March 17.

The last game the Falcons played they had Cousins just handing the ball off. Even Penix can do that honestly so as a rookie he may make more mistakes but his upside is better. Penix is able to make sideline throws that Cousins struggled to make.

My concern with Penix is that OL because that right side is very, very iffy.

I pointed this out when they signed Cousins and after they drafted Penix.
It made no sense NOT to draft Penix if you are stuck with Cousins, because Cousins does not win crucial games. Penix does.

Everyone was freaking out about it being a 'wasted draft pick' but if you knew Cousin's history - you knew you were going to need him. Cousins was always a crappy QB that was good enough to be expensive.

However, asking Penix to be good in his first game, after never practicing with the 1s during the regular season (save this week), is probably asking a bit much. Even against the Giants. (Who we lost to)
