I always thought he should've retired a few years ago as it was obvious he didn't have answers his last couple years in Seattle. Always thankful for a SB and his place in Seahawks history but wish he retired sooner.

Moved this to NFL forum because it is not directly Seahawks related. Left it as its own thread instead of merging it into the firing thread because I think it is relevant enough to Seahawks fans that it would overshadow the other firings in that thread with discussion.

Is Pete’s end better than Brett Favre a or Erin booger eater?

I don’t know Pete crashed hard.

And prolly the most telling thing was when he dumfoundedly said “I thought we were gonna win right away…”
No. He should have let lynch run the ball and then rode off into the sunset on back to back Super Bowl wins. In hindsight, his flaws were already starting to show that year, the impact of those flaws was just massively accelerated by the fallout.

Legend…but, the game has changed and PC hasn’t changed with it.

Not surprised. I just hope this dude retires, spends time with his family, and enjoys the rest of his days!

I beleive he gets to keep the 3 years pay. A nice golden parachute. 45 million dollars.

Can't say I'm surprised, but it's unfortunate to see. Ride off into the sunset, Pete, we'll call when they name a street after you and you take your rightful place in the ROH.

I think the majority of us here saw this coming. Terribly unceremonious end to a pretty illustrious career. A lot of what I read here sounds right to me, about the game having passed him by some ways, and that his weaknesses as a coach/personnel guy got more exposed. Also, he wasn't brought in to do a rebuild, which is what they needed, and that's never been his mentality. You don't draft a RB that high and bring in an older Geno Smith when you're under construction in that way. He was brought in to re-establish a winning culture and mindset to the organization, and, unfortunately, that failed miserably.

I suspect that they'll be moving on from Geno as well at the appropriate time. He certainly doesn't have PC to act as his guardian there anymore. They'll probably want to bring in a younger offensive minded coach to develop the young QBOTF they will be drafting next spring. I suppose they could keep Geno around for another year so they don't have to throw their new young QB into the fire right away. But I personally don't see that happening.

Like many of us here, big gratitude to PC for what he brought to this franchise and all of us fans of the team.

Not suprised. They should have never hired him in the first place.
