Perhaps. The pitching staff looks solid to great, but position players and hitters have health concerns. Lot of "if helathy" caveats to hang on several players.

This.

Polanco has only stayed healthy for a full season once in the past 4 seasons, and has missed at least 58 games in 3 out of the past 4 seasons.

Haniger has only stayed healthy for a full season once in the past 4 seasons, and has missed at least 99 games in 3 out of the past 4 seasons.

Garver has never played in more than 102 games in a season in his entire career. In his past 5 seasons, he hasn't played in more than 93 games in a season. I get that part of that is because catchers generally don't play every day, but a much bigger part of that is due to a long and extensive history of injuries.

So yeah. Maybe, maybe, the M's are better on paper than last year if healthy, but these 3 guys have rarely been healthy the past 4 seasons and when they miss time with injuries, they tend to miss a lot of time.

Being Hawk fans we should be used to the injury circus but baseball besides pitching should not have so many injuries.
I get Hanigar busting a nut but he hurts everything like Adams but baseball?

It's annoying. It feels like they are close and could overtake Houston/Texas with a bit of ambition but just won't push the boat out. On paper they've probably stayed the same but it's all about injuries.

They NEVER do what it takes to get over the hump. Being ALMOST good enough is their jam. They've been in the playoffs 5 TIMES IN THEIR HISTORY.

I don't need to hear any bs from the management or ownership. Shut up and fix it.
