A few questions for some of you gurus out there.

So is it technique, just really bad players, coaching or a mix of all. I notice a lot of times when that ball is snapped it almost seems like our Oline minus probably nowak is on their stomachs swinging their legs. Are they diving forward and being pulled/pushed down by the dlines or what? Because a lot of times when there's dudes in russell's face our oline are on their backs or stomachs. Is Cable teaching them to just push, dive or roll? Or a combo of some kind. It just seems baffling to me.

I'm not taking any blame away from Bevell for his playcalling ability but now, I'm more focused on Cable's abilty of teaching the Oline. So he's had great run offenses but most of them are pushing forward and then falling flat.

I think part of it is technique and lack of experience. Some of these players have never been on offense before. Here's a good synopsis of what zone blocking is suppose to be and look like:

One of the reasons is because Seattle's Oline cut blocks as much or more than any other offensive line in the league in the run game.

I think Cable has mentioned this before, but getting defensive playerers constantly to the ground by cutting their legs out wears them out faster (they have to pick their big bodies off the ground and go chase the ball carrier).

Cut blocking is always big in the zone blocking schemes which Seattle runs. There's a lot of blocks that the Oline can't reach with a normal block, but can get enough of a cut block that can (hopefully) affect the Dline just enough.

A major drawback with the cutblocks that i have heard is you cant really simulate them in practice which is a major reason it has taken a couple games, each year, for the o-line to be functional.

Lynch has 375 yards rushing this season, he's well off the pace to get 1000 yards. Rawls has 376 yards so far. The OL issues are factor here. The run game has suffered due to inconsistent line play. The totals per game look better because of Wilson's ability to run. Biggest concern is that no one is scoring TDs regularly in this offense. That part needs to be fixed asap

I saw that and thought, "Is this really what we are spending this year on our O-Line compared to other teams?"

No it is not. "ringless" posted cap space to show that the Seahawks have little maneuver room to add or trade at this time.

By way of addressing your question, Seattle currently ranks 28th with either $13,212,650 or $13,100,451 allocated to a 10 man offensive line group depending on which source you select below.

My preference is the OTC Sortable Position Spending Chart (click on the tab of the position group column (for example ... "OL") you want to look at) >>> [urltargetblank]http://overthecap.com/positional-spending[/urltargetblank]

Alternate Spotrac ranking and comparison of 32 offensive line cap allocations is posted here >>>> [urltargetblank]http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/positional/offensive-line/[/urltargetblank]

The choreography of the offensive line takes months to learn and even longer for Seattle because they are teaching guys that have played defense their entire lives to now play offense. As with just about EVERY choreographed event, the people involved get better with more time together. The offensive line is getting better every week. I think they have done pretty well for being thrown together eight weeks ago. Remember, they changed three guys around after preseason week 3.

At this point in Britt's trajectory of development at left guard, he has already surpassed Carpenter. By the end of the season, and hopefully entering the playoffs, Britt will be a whole different level.

These threads complaining about the offensive have become increasingly curious over the last two weeks. Going forward, we can only hope that they become even more out of step with the improvement that has been evident in the offensive line.

The team didn't release Carpenter, he was a free agent and they were not going to pay him what he wanted. Jets did and now he's a Jet.

Position spending cycles thru ups and downs. The Seahawk OL position spending ranked #11 in 2014 and ranked #1 in 2013 ..... just 2 years ago. Teams are dynamic entities. Always changing. Developments and results are on the move.
