Oh come on. It's much more fun to :240039: than to actually worry about boring facts and stuff.

I never thought that, at 3-0, there'd be so many fans running around like their hair's on fire over the least little hint of a negative posting in an internet forum or a blog, or even a news article. I'm not sure there's even that much support for the whole "OMG! Unger's out! We're going to fail!" meme.

As Seahawks fans, we've not yet learned to handle success very well.

I reiterate: In 2011, we faced a far worse situation on the OL and basically aced the end of the season and won one of the most dramatic playoff games in NFL history.

:229031_shrug:

While it doesn't seem like OP was aware of the actual status of 2 of the injured players when he made this post, it is a fair point to make that it would not be good at all if we are down 3 OL starters when we play Houston and their solid defense.

Like we were down 3 OL starters for Beastquake when we beat the Saints in the 2011 playoffs? :1:

I simply can't believe that JS/PC don't have Pro Bowl caliber backups ready to go. It's pretty easy to find All-Pro quality Centers and OTs to have on standby. The NFL is full of amazing OL play...can't believe we've neglected it for so long. :sarcasm_off:

I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate OL threads. For some reason, we think the NFL is full of great OLs when really there are maybe a few teams who truly have great OL play (all of whom are an injury away from being average to below). The reality is, the better athletes are on the DL. This trend has been going on for years now.

Do you think we are a great team? If yes, then why panic? Great teams overcome adversity. Great teams adapt. If you are acting like the sky is falling, then I'd say your confidence in this team is not very high (or you are doing the standard Seattle chicken little routine). So stop it, dammit!

Have a little faith...if Bowie plays, I expect a good performance. Cable is one of the best in the business for a reason. Let him work his magic.

In times like these, some of you need to heed the advice of Marshawn Lynch, "stop freakin, call Beacon."

good points! There are a bunch of teams managing to perform with a less than ideal OL. Heck the Steelers have won superbowls with below average OL.

I'd be fine with that if that's what OP was stating when the made the thread, but it wasn't started as a speculation thread.

Well I admire the optimism. I am more of a pragmatic fan myself, but I certainly hope you are right

Not at all happy with this thread. The OP is speculating, and gives it as fact.

We know Okung is out, because he's on IR and can't return for five more weeks.

Anything else is TOTAL SPECULATION. From listening to PC, it's hard to get a read on the Breno situation. It sounds like he might play, might not play, but given what I know of Breno, he'll play unless there's blood shooting out of his eyeballs. Unger is less injured than Breno, and so IMHO even more likely to play.

I would be FLOORED if both of these guys did not play. Absolutely flabbergasted, and totally surprised.

Oh my gawd I'm freaking out and speculating. I simply was parroting what I heard on Kiro radio yesterday.

It said his arm wasn't in good shape and he is questionable, which in essence saying he has a 25% chance to play.

You guys are really something. Rag on every post that anyone makes.

If you don't like it, don't read it and/or comment.

Wilson got sacked 5 times against the Rams and 5 times against the Redskins and still scored 20+ and won both games. The key will be if we can run the ball. If we can run the ball, I'm not too worried. If we can't run the ball, then there is a chance we could have another Carolina type game where we will have to win with defense.

You said Unger was OUT. People commented because they wanted to know where you heard it. How can you not expect that reaction?
You said BRENO was questionable, not Unger.

There seems to be an automatic response to OL questions concerns that either pretends there are no concerns or minimizes the impact. Even if Unger does play I'm not thrilled about the line.

The run blocking hasn't been consistent. The pass pro has been consistently bad. Any other QB besides RW would really be getting knocked around. Even the Jags got to him. Yeah the kitties have a good front 7, the Niners...I think their front 7 may be overrated at this point. So I don't think you put it all on some notion that we've played all-world defenses.

Every other position on the team is playing at a high level so we're winning games and not in a bad spot at all. If it were just a bit of inconsistent run blocking it wouldn't even make the radar. But if Russell gets knocked out then forget the fact the other 99% of the team is super, we're done. A little criticism about the OL is warranted, since it pretty much was the only position of need (we felt) going into the offseason. And Cable can't seem to figure out how to get guys to pass protect.

I hope we see some bubble screens to Tate and fake end arounds along with maybe a screen or 2 to Beast/Turbin or (Michael if we're lucky). Seems like that should at least give Russell an extra 1/2 second or so.

Well said. Sums up everything I could have said earlier. I am scared sh.itless right now that Russell will get creamed and if he is out, we are done.

Lets be honest here... Our offensive line is terrible. Our best player on the line, Okung, is gone.. Our second and third best players, Unger and Breno, are not at 100%. That leaves us with McQuistan as our best O-lineman. Are you kidding me?!

When is the last time you've seen a team with a weak offensive line win or even make it to the Superbowl? All of the consistent Superbowl contenders have solid O-lines, with the best example being the New England Patriots. Although the Saints are not exactly consistent Superbowl contenders, they did have arguably the best offensive line assembled in the last decade and some say one of the best lines of all time (the year they won the Superbowl).

A good defense can bring you a world championship. The Baltimore Ravens proved this last year. But its not easy. The Seahawks should have started building a solid offensive line in front of Russell Wilson the moment they realized he was our next franchise QB. They neglected to do so and I think we're in for a big disappointment when we play teams like Texas, who can dismantle a team's front five with relative ease.

Even if we didn't have guys banged up on the line this game would be a tall order. Houston's front seven is physical, fast and disruptive. Lot of fun to watch, except this Sunday of course.

Steelers, Colts, Cardinals, Packers...happens all the time.

Our O-line has two Pro Bowlers on it and people call it terrible. I don't think its pass protection is perfect, but I also think its weaknesses are magnified by a gameplan that lusts after the long-developing play and a QB who invites holds from his linemen by occasionally holding onto the ball and/or scrambling around for twenty seconds. I also think the run-blocking could improve, but our FB situation is also a part of that.

I think that it wouldn't be terrible if our probowlers were healthy, I think it'd be pretty decent (excepting pass pro), but they aren't healthy unfortunately.

I also think any RB besides Lynch and we'd get a much different reaction about our OL.
