We were coming off a 7-9 season with a lot of uncertainty. We knew we had a lot of potential on defense but the fact that we are in the NFC championship game already is really impressive. So awesome. Its them uniforms I tell you

It certainly is great that we didn't get stuck in a black hole of mediocrity. Parity or not, an organization can get stuck in the middle of the road for a long time.

It could be argued that a 7-9 season is worse news for a team's future than a 2-14 season, but thanks to some great management we have escaped "average" fairly quickly.

Interesting take, especially considering there are many Niner fans walking around now who have no clue who Mike Nolan is.

Those arent 49er fans, and they dont count.

There were always plenty of 12s. There are just MORE now, which tends to happen for any team that rises to the top of the league and gets more media coverage as a result. It's why there are MORE 49ers fans now, too, than there were back in the mid 2000s.

Joins January 13, 2014. Pretends to know what this place was like years ago. Doesn't remember that there were 2 Niner fans on this board until 2011.

Back on topic... when is the last time you heard a 7-9 joke?

Someone should email Sando and ask him that question.

Also on topic, this Jerry Brewer article hits the nail on the head...

http://seattletimes.com/html/jerrybrewe ... 08xml.html

RENTON — Pete Carroll wouldn’t consider a four-year process a meteoric rise. The Seahawks coach isn’t patient enough to listen to a reporter’s entire question, much less appreciate that, as rebuilding projects go, he has nearly completed the job with stunning swiftness.

It’s easy to go from irrelevant to competitive in the NFL. But irrelevant to excellent? That’s a more arduous task than advertised.

When Carroll arrived, the Seahawks were a soft team desperate for an edge. They were both undersized and slow, an absurd predicament. They were old and overpriced. They had no plan to replace Matt Hasselbeck, who was breaking down. They needed a defense, an offensive line, wide receivers and running backs.

Doesnt care when I joined, becuase not a hawks fan. Joined to talk about this game and rivalry. Doenst matter what this place was like years ago. Doesnt matter how many 49er fans were on this board. I dont care at all about the crappy no good 49er "fans" who didnt care about the team before Harbaugh. I was a fan back in the early 90s when i was old enough to actually understand sports. Now I live in oklahoma.

Edited for abusive and offensive language.

Don't be ignorant. 12's have been bringing it for years.

Back to what matters (the OP and not more cry baby Whiners fans who don't like that our rabid fans get so much deserving attention)...

The one thing that got us here relatively quickly, IMO, was the willingness to gut the roster post Mora. The endless transactions, tryouts, flyers, you name it...they were willing to completely reset the franchise, which not a lot of NFL teams have the sack to do although it's begging for necessity (I'm looking at you, Buffalo-Cleveland-Washington-Oakland).

No one saw this coming in 2011? We saw this defense become a monster, and the offense was taking shape of its own even with a TJack who had a torn pec.

I dunno, it didn't surprise me.

How did I miss this Gem of observation?

That POST really contains a high stupidity content. In fact, many of the new "12's" you are seeing are actually just Niner fans, so do they count? But I assure you that this place is transformed over multiple hosting instances that span 3 different eras of Seahawks football and many of the names here are the same ones I have been reading for years and years. In Public? Around here? Always the 12s. Since the 80's.

Oh, so what you are saying is that I know more about the Niners than you do.? 90's Huh? So what you are really saying is that you are a Cowboy's fan that cannot troll anywhere so you hopped on the Niners wagon with hopes of sustainability.

It's not even 18 months ago that we were 4-4 and people were saying Carroll was fighting for his job

Actually the 12th man tradition and Seattle homefield advantage goes back to 1984 and Seattle's Kingdome days during the era of Chuck Knox.

Truly it goes back to the Huskies and that fan base and when we got our team, it started being called the 12th man probably around then but it was always here. Huskies used to be called one of the most noisy fan bases in the country.
