I heard a high ankle described as a fracture. 6 weeks....his one tackle was for a loss?
It's sad.

Not all high ankle sprains are the same. They can vary from mild, week to week, tears, that heal quickly on their own, to severely torn, requiring surgical repair.

And yes, many times return to play is faster after a worse tear, that requires surgery, than a bad, but not quite bad enough for surgery, tear.

Severity of the sprain will dictate when he returns to play, thus the week to week designation initially.

We should have a good idea of the severity sometime in the next couple of days. What I saw didn’t look too bad, but TV angles can be deceiving.

In the preseason it looked like he hurt his ankle on a play and was limping about but stayed in the game and played.

Let's hope this injury was of the mild form of high ankle strain, the team was likely counting on conribution from Emmanwori the dropoff in talent from him to the other backups is significant.

I suspect decision will be made on this matter this week perhaps as early as today.
