"During NFL training camps and preseason (July 22 to Sept. 7), Facebook aggregated the posts and comments of its 49 million users who like an official team page.

For the first time, they measured those fans’ sentiments and classified them based on how positive or negative they were for their given team. The result: Chargers’ fans are the least optimistic in the NFL."

It's weird that the Chiefs are the most optimistic and the Chargers the least. Both have the feel of "solid, but unspectacular".

Caroilna is pretty high. Even before the Kelvin injury, that is a tough one to figure.

I get the Dolphins and Vikings optimism. There is clear, forward progress that the fans, media, and other fanbases all can see and recognize. Don't get the Saints optimism, as they clearly regressed, while the Buccs got better and the Falcons got a lot better. Also, the Panthers, who didn't improve due to injury, are still the defending division champ.

The absolute best case scenario for the Chargers is likely this. They win the super bowl and then get moved to LA. They are more than likely one of the two teams that is going to move to LA probably with the Rams. I have friends who are Chargers fans who are pretty much despondent at this point.

Most here figure Alex will get it done now that they have weapons or think Chase Daniel is an actual NFL quarterback. Don't kill me I'm just the messenger. Carolina isn't hard to figure. They're by far the best team even with Benjamin out in a horribly weak division. Think NFCW 2007-10.

I have heard dozens of Chiefs fans talking about how they went 4-0 in the PS the last time they won a SB.

Yeah, they are optimistic. And they should be. Other than the QB, their team is fun to watch.

Even I have admitted if Alex Smith doesn't hold them back like I expect. They have everything to make it to the Superbowl.

1. Defense
2. Running game
3. Good coaching
4. Maclin (if Alex is willing to throw it to him in high risk situations).
5. Awesome HFA

The chiefs are what the Seahawks would be with Tarvaris Jackson starting...a .500 team at best.

Smith beat Jackson head to head in Seattle and has two very good postseason games and a clunker.

Smith on the Seahawks is an 11 or 12 win team, easily. He won 13 games in SF when he's clearly better now than he was then.

Smith's a starter making lots of dough. Jackson is not. Evidence enough for me.

I don't see it that way. Smith doesn't throw the ball more than five yards down the field. When he does, he isn't very good. He has everyone convinced he is good because it has been so long since he attempted to actually throw the ball downfield that people have forgotten how awful he actually was when he tried. Now, everyone thinks his completion percentage would remain the same if he reverted to throwing downfield. I remember how bad he was when he tried. Andy Reid wants Alex to do things he isn't very good at and I don't think it will end well. Alex Smith's supposed good seasons have consisted of dink and dunk between the twenties and career years for his team's kicker. Andy Reid doesn't like to dink and dunk. Alex will be more out of his element than Kaepernick is as a pocket passer.

I think Carolina's offense will stink to high heaven. It's the worst division in the NFL but I see the Falcons and Bucs improving, while the Saints will probably be around .500 again.

Carolina was 3-8-1 at one point, then won 4 straight to sneak in the playoffs at 7-8-1. Two of those wins were squeakers over the Browns and Bucs. I think they are probably the third best team in that division this year.

The Chiefs lost 7 games last year and barely changed this offseason. They seem so vanilla to me. Solid in all three phases, but not spectacular. They also declined in wins and DVOA from 2013 to 2014. And the last time we saw them in the playoffs, they blew a 38-10 lead to a 2nd year QB. Yeah it's just one game, but I think stuff like that could only happen to a franchise that is sorely lacking mental toughness.

If I was a Chiefs fan, I wouldn't forget about any of that because they had a 4-0 preseason. I'd be resigned to 'almost good enough' like Bengals and Chargers fans. I'd be excited for Jeremy Maclin looking like a good free agent signing, and that might be it.
