Dan Pasterini (sp?) Houston Oilers I think.

Ding Ding!

Dan Pastorini of the Houston Oilers introduced the flak jacket in 1978 after recovering from broken ribs and a punctured lung.

I remember Hasselbeck wearing one for several games when he suffered the two broken ribs. Only missed one game and played multiple while it healed. I remember seeing him wince in pain throwing a pass. Can't imagine how painful it must have been to get sacked.

Pity, Dan Pastorini and Archie Manning both were great QB's on historical bad teams, put either one on a good team and they would have been icons in the sport for their day.
