I found the NFL.com power rankings interesting this week in regards to the NFC West especially.

3 Seahawks
7 Rams
15 49ers
24 Cardinals

I know the Niners are beat up but they still lead the division. 15 is really a lack of any faith.

I’m a homer for sure and the fact our two losses could easily be wins bodes well for us but even I’d say 3 is a bit high right now (but I’ll take it)

Yeah seems like 15 is projecting where they may be headed (due to so many crushing injuries) rather than their body of work so far

It does seem like both the Cards and Niners, in their quest for 6 starting QBs in one season, seem ranked a little low.

I'm not sure I'm entirely behind the Hawks being at 3. I would have them in 5th or 6th, until they start pulling off signature wins.

I prefer being lower, but it's at odds with a winning team, which we are at this point. We're young and rankings have the potential to get into their heads. JS said he looks for a chip on the shoulder when drafting...if you build the team like that, rankings and f'n prisco keep that fire lit. MacDaddy will keep them grounded, but still prefer under the radar.

Agree that 3 is prob too high, but 5-6 is legit with our unexpected powerhouse O. Beat the rams in their house, we'll become headliners.

I think ESPN had us at 8 with the Rams at 7. I think we are top 10. Like Aros said, 2 plays away from being 6-0. We are firing on all cylinders yet. Still have a lot of room to grow but we can hang with anyone so far and should only get better.

Yeah, the offense has put up some stats and such, but still a bit light on the running game to be ranked that high. As the weather changes and we need to lean on the rush more and more, we have work to do to get it on track.

So 3 is kind of high for a team that isn't quite complete yet. Nice to get positive press, of course, but can't read too much into it.

2 muck ups from undefeated but nobody goes undefeated anymore this league is too tough. The screwed up thing is we’re probably getting swept by the 49ers due to us resting starters last week for playoffs

I mean, they will be resting their starters too. 😬

On the other hand, there isn't really a super team right now. There's a loose collection of about 8 teams that are "in the mix". The consensus #1 (Tampa) has that spot, in part, because they beat us in a nailbiter (considered a quality win for them because we're part of that group of 8).

Like Aros said above, we've just got to keep stacking wins. If there's one thing we all should have learned about the NFL this season is how unpredictable it's been week to week, game to game. Falcons knock off the Bills last night. No biggie. Most pundits SB representative for the AFC this year was the now 1-5 Ravens. Last year's 4-13 Patriots are now in first place in their division. The SB champion Eagles have lost two in a row and are presently degenerating into a soap opera of dysfunction. The Seahawks a mere afterthought going into the season are now getting mentioned as the best in their division and a contending team all of a sudden by certain pundits.

At present, I don't think it's crazy to think that any one of seven teams or so could represent the NFC in the SB. It might boil down to who gets hot at the right time and remains comparatively/relatively injury free when it counts. The only thing I feel fairly confident about is that the Chiefs are going to once again be the team other teams are going to have to go through to get the Lombardi. And that's if they remain relatively stable on the injury front.

It's not completely crazy to think that we're contenders in the NFC, something that I wouldn't even allow myself to think of as being a possibility when the season began. Just keep improving, keep winning, possibly make a key acquisition, and get ready for those showdowns against the Rams forthcoming.

Holy crap! Not that power rankings are anything definitive, and I figured we'd crack the top five eventually, but consider me mildly shocked by where NFL.com has Seattle ranked already! A bit too high at this point if you ask me.

A lot of rankings have the Bucs at #1-2. We went toe to toe with them with a depleted secondary and no DHall and DLaw. Myers makes that FG, and its likely we even win that game.

So as of right now without any true juggernauts in the NFL, top 5 is reasonable.

If played on a neutral field what NFC team would be a significant favorite over a healthy-ish Seahawks team right now?

Packers
Lions
Bucs
Rams
Eagles
