Although, I can see how that is true in lots of cases, it isn't always the case. I've often used that phrase and scanned the first and second pages of the forum and not seen it, but on a busy day, and something that isn't "hot off the presses", it's still both possible to have missed it or to have it posted beyond page 2, so I will use it for something that I post that is more than a few hours old. Of course, there are plenty of guilty parties who just see something for the first time and rush in and post it, hoping to be first, and this causes the quick build up of threads like the Jared Allen threads today. I really don't understand the need to be the first to post something, but it is seemingly rather commonplace

Guys, please don't get me wrong. I'm simply trying to call attention to something that most of us generally practice. The point is not to criticize people, I've made the mistake of thinking that I was first w/out looking and sometimes reminders help me to, you know... remember to do things.

Threads tend to come quickly in the hours/day following a game an let's be honest, there are many, many redundant threads as a result.

It's just a pet peeve of mine. Seemed like a great thread to vent about it. Perhaps it's a sign that i check the forum too often.
Another big one of mine is subject threads that contain question marks, without asking a question like:

Rick Mirer Hurt? (post contains a link to a story confirming Rick Mirer is in fact hurt)
Rick Mirer to the Bears for a first Rounder? (post contains a link to a story confirming Rick Mirer was traded to the bears for a 1st rounder)

Yea, I can definitely see how that could get irksome. It really would cut down the repetitive postings if people who said they didn't see it posted had actually looked. I mean, I understand mistakes happen. I know I've looked for threads that I know I've read before and missed them, so it would still happen, but not nearly to the levels the repetitive threads are now.

What I don't understand is the seemingly obsessive need to be the one to post the thread about a new story that people respond to. I would much rather come in and just read an already started thread, and add my opinion to it than start a new one if I had the choice, but maybe that's just me.

I know i've wanted to yell "FIRST" a few times. But between profootballtalk, google and twitter, everybody has he same information.

I think that whenever i see a "anyone know any more about this?". I check PFT, google and twitter. If it's not there then no, there isn't anymore to know about it yet.
