I feel like there is a difference between a team going through a rough patch and a team that systematically has no desire to improve, like the Mariners. I think it's crappy to leave if it's the former, but I'm okay with jumping ship if it's the latter, and Dallas is definitely the latter. I wouldn't blame anyone for quitting on the Mariners, and this seems to be pretty much the same situation, if not worse.

Not sure how you guys will receive me but I'm going to be honest from the outset. I probably won't make my initial post too lengthy. If you guys have questions, feel free to ask.

Long story short. I've just about had it with the dallas cowboys. I invest way too much into that POS organization and I can't handle how horribly that franchise is run any longer. I've decided to adopt a new team and I've chosen the Seattle Seahawks. Hope I will be welcomed here...I have a ton to learn about the current organization. I look forward to spending some time here and enjoying some seahawks football!

Welcome but since you chose us you better stay a fan in the down years.Which isn't likely to happen until Wilson retires. So you're in luck it seems. Enjoy the ride!(I don't blame you for switching Jerry has ruined that franchise).

Enjoy the Wilson jersey. May it be the first of many. I got the Wilson wolf Gray one after the Hawks hung 50 on the Bills wearing those LY. Hope you get to the CLink for a game soon. Maybe the Hawks will play in Dallas sometime soon.
We play them next year NFC East is next in the rotation.:)

I think you would feel better if you had stuck with your team through thick and thin, when they inevitably will start winning again at some point, and worse if you have jumped ship when times were hard. You will go back anyway at some point. Still, its OK to have a "second favourite" or root for favourite players (like Wilson) if you cant approve what the current front office does.

It is understandable.

Dallas Cowboys the last 2 years :

1-24 against teams with a record of .500 or greater

All the wins they have over the last 2 years are against sub .500 teams.

No offense to the mariners. But let's not compare them to the cowboys. Mariners may be awful but they don't have the following the cowboys have.
Cubs fan. I win.

I genuinely can't understand how an adult can swap allegiances with their sporting teams. I know you guys have the franchise thing going on there but stopping supporting a team you've supported since childhood honestly baffles me.

Supporting your team through the bad times makes the good times all the more sweet. I've supported my local soccer (typing that makes me feel bad) team since my dad took me as a young lad and even though I've moved away from the area to London where there are a plethora of local teams (some at a much higher level) I've no interest in following them instead.

So welcome aboard OP but don't mind me looking at you from afar with a slightly perplexed look on my face.

First off, gotta say ive only read page one of this thread. I'm not sure what I dislike more, you giving up on your team---you picking a team that is 9-1 or how easily excepted you are accepted on this board. Being a fan since 1981 and living in ny, there was never a moment that I'd ever think about switching teams and becoming a giants fan and I've had to live through 4 Super Bowl wins.
Suck it up and go back and root for your cowboys

Well it's one thing if he grew up in or lived/lives in Texas, but I think a massive number of people across the country became Cowboys fans in the 90's because they were "America's Team" and easy to climb on the bandwagon and root for (especially for people who weren't football fans yet;) they were the Yankees or Bulls of the NFL in that period. After the 49ers took over the NFC in the 80's, Dallas regressed into a mediocre team and then just straight putrid before their resurgence in the early 90's and then it was Starter and Apex jackets with a star logo everywhere you looked. And that was just in the Puget Sound. Aikman, Smith, Irvin, Novacek and the other gazillion pro-bowlers on that team resonated with a very young fan base (teenagers to early 20's at the time) and those are your 30 to 40 year old die-hard Cowboys fans today. It was all well and good in the glory days until the inevitable variables that are parity and rebuilding came knocking and put Dallas into the dirt once more.

If someone wants to secede from the Jerry Jones Egomania All-Stars, that's cool by me. If we had that type of management and coaching up here for any measurable length of time, I can't say that I wouldn't consider throwing myself overboard either. I know a lot of people who started following their teams because of a single player they liked, so it's totally understandable if people suddenly find themselves gravitating to the Hawks because of our humble blue-collar QB whose character, work ethic and intangibles both on and off the field are nothing short of remarkable.

As an aside, I hate Dallas but I actually like Romo and thinks he gets a bad rap.

Up to this year, I would've absolutely agreed with UK_Seahawk & FDNYHAWK - but since I've managed to convert my wife from being a Cheesehead to her buying her own Sherman jersey, I can't have a moral high ground!

Welcome to the fold, ijumpedship, hope you enjoy the ride as much as the rest of us - no way would my patience with JJ have lasted either. The man is a clown. Perhaps when he retires/sells up/fades into the Sith ether to join Al Davis, you might rekindle your love for your first team.

Let's start w Jerry Jones.

1) he refuses to step down as GM and hire a real one.
2) he has mixed intentions. He wants to win but it has to be his way. He's rather lose than win w someone else in charge.
3) he hires puppets as head coaches. Guys that have zero authority. Bc no Real coach (save for parcells) will work for him.
4) he only hired parcells bc he needed funding for the new stadium and he even said it himself.
5) he doesn't give a crap about his loyal fan base. His ego is so damn big that it gets in the way of every decision.
6) we are the worst salary cap managed team in the nfl. Gosh darnit. 25% plus annually of our salary cap is wasted on players who either aren't on the team or are being paid for nothing. Ie. Dead money.

I've mentioned this already. I'm not happy about joining a team that is so good. I don't like it.

I'm not leaving dallas bc they suck. I'm leaving dallas bc until Jerry dies-and there is no end to his life in sight-that organization will never be competent. I'm ok rooting for teams that suck. I'm not ok rooting for a team that sucks, doesn't care they suck, and doesn't care that the fans want change, and won't make it.

4 pages of responses and no one has asked the obvious question...? Say it comes down to the playoffs, see... Say Dallas comes to Seattle for a matchup, see... Who's ship are you on? I have to believe that as a Cowgirls fan since childhood, you'd be going for them in Seattle. Am I wrong? This is a total possibility this season.

You don't get to adopt, then go back for a game, only to have a win/win going forward. That's not cool. We all know you'd be cheering for Dallas and you'd have stabbed us all in the back. Straight in the back, see...

lots of Hawk fans at McFaddens in Addison on gameday, think the bar has even set up their own room and all. I just discovered it this season but promptly moved out of the neighborhood before I could check it out.
