Would the MLB be better if every score was 15-13 or would the NFL be better if every score was 72-63?

No thanks, I'm good. The surprise and random rewards psychology just isn't there for me. If you like sports where you can light up the scoreboard like a pinball machine then hey the NBA might be good for you.

I’m a huge NBA fan so I’m going to defend it as best I can. Not surprised by everyone’s sentiment in here as most people in Seattle don’t like the NBA.

Everything shown in here is poor officiating. That happens in every sport. I can show clips of bad PI calls in NFL, or crap calls by MLB umps.

As for the argument that they don’t play defense in the NBA, that’s partially true but a lot of it is the players have become so talented on offense. Most NBA players can shoot 35% from three, 25 years ago only a handful of really good shooters could shoot at that clip.
Lol you really believe this?
I'm not going to say much except I don't think you watched
the 80's to early 2000 to understand the game compared to
the garbage they put out now.

As for the league itself, it definitely has issues. More than NFL, probably less than baseball. However I give MLB a ton of credit for all the changes the last couple years. NBA needs to address the tanking and the foul baiting. Once those are addressed the product should feel much better.

I love watching NBA because it’s a star driven sport. The stars show up almost every night. When the Sonics come back, I’ll pick games based on who I want to see. Go see Wemby, you most likely will see him drop 25 and 10. Go see Luka, very good chance he drops 30. If you went to see Judge for all three games against the M’s you saw him get one hit. I think I just enjoy the consistency of the NBA.

NBA has much more parity now. Since the Warriors dynasty has ended in 2018 there has been a new champ each year and no team has made it to the finals in consecutive years. The NBA has way more parity now than the NFL.

I think a lot of you will warm up to the NBA when it comes back. If the Sonics stayed and the Mariners or Seahawks got taken, a lot of you would have the same negative feelings toward those leagues.
It's a choice.. you like the league, fine, go watch the New Sonics, else, don't. But the main thing is .. it's there if you want. I remember our team the Sonics and that's a memory if you were there, we al have and can keep. Personally, the Post Sonic NBA reminds me of flag football.

On a side note, THE 3 pt play was not a regularly implemented play and perhaps their Shotting percent was lower cause, they actually played defense? IDK.. perhaps... I'd like to see Bird in this era dumping 3's, I'm sure he'd have a field day

I watched a ton of 90’s and 2000’s. Honestly golden era of basketball was probably the 90’s leading into the 2000’s.

The players are just insanely talented now. Back then everything was very position dependent. PG’s couldn’t shoot, for the most part they passed and were floor generals. SG’s and SF’s were shooters. PF’s and C’s were all back to the basket guys who scored in the paint. Now everyone can shoot and for the most part handle the ball.

It’s a different game. I totally understand why some are turned off by it. I cannot understand anyone who backs MLB but hates NBA. My dad is a baseball writer and historian and even he hates modern day baseball. It’s just boring, walk, strikeout or the occasional home run. The ball is almost never put into play anymore. Guys can barely even hit .235.

I’d much rather a sport that trends toward offense than defense.

A lot of us stopped watching or really caring about the NBA when the Sonics left.. we still hold to what the NBA was like.. it's what were used to and have a hard time.. well we think we will have a hard time getting used to this unaccustomed new style of basketball... whereas Mariners have been here since 75 and we've become used to the evolution of the sport. However, there are still people who don't care for basebnall as well.

This.
It's crazy to think the Suns with Steve Nash era would probably be getting blown out in today's game.
IMO they need to get rid of the 3 point line or alter it somehow. Also the NBA let's their players do whatever they want... sit games out, smoke weed etc which leads to more injuries and laziness . The game just isn't taken seriously anymore.

Lots of truth to this.
The big man and point guard play is basically dead in today's NBA. Everyone can shoot. Nobody plays defense. It has simplified the game. Players are better at shooting but they aren't as tough or strategic. The NBA should ban zone again, and make only the top of the 3 point line exist. Get rid of the 3 point line on the sides of the court.
The last great NBA team IMO were the Spurs. Duncan as your center with 2 elite point guards Ginobli and Parker driving to the rim or kicking it out to a perimeter shooter plus they played good defense.

Pitching in MLB has been better thus batting averages are down, yeah sadly. But I disagree the major sports are better off geared toward offense, that's why to me the NFL and MLB hasn't lost its flavor. There's still defense/pitching. The Mariners are just really really bad too.

At this rate, air balls will soon count as a made 3-pointer.

You found a video from like over a year ago because AD is on the Lakers in this. If you want I can go find random NFL or MLB clips from over a year ago where there are obvious bad officiating. It happens in every sport.

I don't necessarily want, but you do what you want. I know there's bunches and bunches of examples out there, but am especially floored by how blatant it's been in the NBA the last couple years.

I agree with most of your takes. However, every sport has gotten softer, just how it goes.

I will still defend NBA against MLB. Sure people can make the argument they don’t play defense in the NBA, but in MLB they can’t even do basic baseball. Hit the runner over, bunt, etc. Just look at the M’s lineup, more than half their lineup is hitting .200 or under. That would be like guys in the NBA not being able to hit FT’s or open jumpers.

NBA is dead to me. I put a curse on the NBA when the Sonics were stolen, and the NBA has been in a downward spiral since. Don't cross the Chukarhawk.
