A lot of cash/salary cap resources have been diverted to the offense. Financially offenses win championships so it's not a 50-50 split. Additionally this year has been a dead money salary cap dump year, ($47M). It was projected to be a down season and it was done partly to clear the way for the future. The 2021 Seahawks defense was a budget defense. The 2022 version has been squeezed tighter.
