#1 overall pick Eric Fisher from Central Michigan disagrees. With scouting these days it doesn't matter where they play.

...Ok. That's why we have had such trouble finding great players deep in the drafts the last few years.

Hey...Wait a second..... ;)

Why do I always take the role opposite of what I've always preached? From the second I saw Michael on tape the day we took him, my jaw dropped. I had a pretty darn good idea that he was special. And I haven't been all that fond of Turbin. I think Turbin is a 190 lb. RB that put on 35 lbs. of muscle that only hurt him. Turbin was really fast and explosive when he was smaller, and then gained all this weight, but still kind of runs like a little guy in a big man's frame. And Michael hasn't disappointed.

But remember, when Michael played against a first unit two weeks ago, he only had one carry over 3 yards. There are many O' RB's who have an athletic advantage against 2nd and 3rd stringers and completely dominate, and then are incredibly ineffective when the games matter.

1. Turbin has looked pretty darn good, better than I thought, especially this week.
2. Michael hasn't done anything but look great against a bunch of players who will never play in NFL games.

Those said, I have a hunch that Michael is the better back, and by quite a ways, but to peg him as a much better back than Turbin at this point seems a little presumptuous.

For me it's not even close. Michael is by far the better RB over Turbin.

I think he looks better right now, but Turbin is more acclimated to the offense, sees holes a bit better, and is more correct in blitz pickups right now. That's to be expected.

Michael shows more burst and acceleration. This is what hurts Turbo; it takes him about 4 steps to get up to full speed and someone usually gets a hand on him by then. Michael is at full speed in 2 steps.

Right now, it's apples and oranges. Michael definately looks like the better back, but he's been going up against other teams' 2's and 3's. Turbin has ran against all 1's for the most part, with some 2's thrown in. I'd like to see Michael against some 1's, but I'm thinking we'll see that in the regular season.

If Michael keeps showing this growth curve, he's going to be the #2 by midway through the season.

Is this the speculate then fill in the blanks thread? Exotic blitzes that produced sacks through the interior OL...yeah, that obviously means Sweezy and McQuistan failed. Especially Sweezy because, well, his pass pro has always sucked ...couldn't have anything to do with having young RB's that aren't very good at blitz pickup yet...naw! ...and to whomever said the run D and run blocking sucked, say what?

Getting better at typing while shaking my head. Practice makes perfect, ya know? :snack:

someone was sayin' michael is yet impatient; that when he learns to hesitate just a bit, he'll be able to let the blocking develop, and then he'll really take off.

he definitely looks a lot quicker/faster, and bigger in the legs than turbin.

You could have driven a bus through the hole Michael ran through, but after that the way he turned the corner and that burst of speed puts him in a different class than Turbin.

Nobody should be surprised Michael looks better. Look at where they were drafted.

Turbin is a solid runner, it the other stuff I worry about. When he's in protection and when he's catching.

I still have nightmares about that awesome pass he dropped in SF last year near the sideline. I think he makes that catch, we win, and win the division... Play the Atlanta game at home... Etc etc.
Brady Quinn was drafted in the 1st RD. RW in the 3rd. Just saying. Draft position doesn't matter

Oh I agree. But when you are talking about two players both drafted by PC/JS I think it holds some weight.

A PC/JS 3rd round pick is a lot different than a Jacksonville jaguars third round pick, for instance.

John Moffit and JR Sweezy agree
