Was listening a few minutes ago to ESPN radio, I believe it was Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo. One of them said about the Seahawk beat down on the Saints that for the rest of the league it must have been horrifying to watch. The conversation continued about how there likely isn't any team that could go into Seattle and beat the Seahawks. I'm loving the sports airwaves today!

Also heard that Winfield was supposed to be visiting Seattle today. Anyone else hear that?

Don't need Winfield IMO. Maxwell and Lane held their own and did excellent. I think Maxwell could start on most teams.

I heard that yesterday from Ian Rappaport. I won't rule it out, but the impression i got was it would depend on how the current DBs fared against the Saints.

Based on last night's performance, i'm not sure they're worried about surviving the last 3 games of Thurmond's suspension.

Yeah, I swear I saw something on the Sports ticker about Winfield visiting. I too don't think we need him, but for depth right now may not be a bad idea if we could swing it and he wants that last shot at a ring. Clearly Pete and John wouldn't sign him if they didn't feel he could contribute. Of course, they could sign him and waive him the next day too...

We do not need him. If they feel we need someone to come in, maybe play special teams, and sit on the bench, then I guess that is the way it will be.

Exactly. Not so long ago, we didn't need Maxwell because we had Thurmond. Gotsta have proper depth heading into the tourney.

The question is do you trust Shead right now to be the 5th DB in the playoffs on our active roster? Cause if Browner doesn't beat his suspension rap, then that's what is going to happen. Lane, Maxwell, Sherm, Thurmond and Shead.

Personally I don't want an untested DB playing even one down in a playoff game or worse SB if there's an injury. So yes, we do need another DB if Browner's not back for the playoffs. Whether it's Cox or Winfield remains to be seen. But I wouldn't expect anyone to be signed until there's some finality to Browner's suspension. Even then he has to get healthy.

Exactly! Who says we don't need Winfield? We're an injury to a corner away from having some real issues in terms of depth, so of course this is a good idea.

Plus, Winfield is one of the good guys....would love to see him get a ring with this team!!!

Yes, exactly. One injury away from potential problems. Better to swoop Winfield off the market before somebody else does.

I'd hate it if we went to the Super Bowl with box boys from the local grocer again. Sign him if necessary.

I'm still hoping we get Browner back, if not then yeah we can add him for depth to sit on the bench. He didn't make this team before this for a reason, he is still available for any team to pick up for a reason, he is slow. He cannot play the game at the same speed as an average player.

Sign him for depth. But IMO Lane and Maxwell have earned their places for the time being.

Agreed. Any question about Lane and Maxwell going against a quality pass attack has been answered. The only other team with an equal or better receiving corp/passing offense is Denver. Lane/Maxwell played great last night and made quite a few great plays.

Gotta keep it in perspective...they did well, but they were going up against top-flight WRs. The Saints do their damage with Graham and Sproles, primarily.

It's always nice to have depth, especially with quality WR teams looming in the playoffs (Detroit, Dallas and Philly).

With all respect to those saying we don't need / don't want Winfield; If Pete thinks we need him, then I think we probably do.
