i think that the last play was defensive holding if nothing else. but on that earlier pi on the sideline in the same drive, home team shouldn't have that called against them. so it was all 'moot'.

Weren't people comparing this Panthers team to the 2012 Seahawks? Well now they have a controversial ending to a MNF game against a contending team.

Unless the ball is thrown 10 feet over his head I don't see how they could use "uncatchable" as an explanation, especially if a guy is held to prevent him running his route.

Wish they'd have applied that criteria (ball has to be catchable) when Ponder overthrew a dude by 30 yards in our game.

Still pretty meh on Newton. Didn't the announcers say that NE is like 30th vs the run, and in this game was missing their top 3 corners? Newton had all...damn...day to throw back there. He made a big-armed throw to Ginny on the outside and Ginny made a good move.

Credit to Newton for not self-destructing, and he does seem to be improving in the 4th quarter, but I can't use the word "arrived" with the guy. That's just me.

Edit: agree with the poster who said that last play is at least defensive holding, but I get them not wanting to call it in that situation. So blatant though, big bear hug.

that last play was a penalty. whatever, carolina looked good for the most part, NEs defense is every bit as bad as it was last year in the defensive backfield. cam took advantage of that tonight as he should.

This has to be one of the most awkward post-game press conferences I've ever seen. No one's asking questions.

I think they basically are calling it uncatchable. Gronk ran his route too deep or Brady threw it too short but I don't think he had a chance to catch it.

He didnt have a chance because he was hugged out of the play!! You cant give the benfit of the doubt to the player who committed the penalty. If theres any indication the player COULD have caught the ball you need to make the call

Seriously, shouldn't make him do a presser after that one.

And the Carolina press keep asking questions lol.

How many games have the Patriots won like that?

Yeah, not mustering up much sympathy for the beneficiaries of the ridiculous tuck rule.
