If it was a Houston - Seattle Super Bowl they might just cancel it citing lack of interest in the real NFL cities.

Does that mean the NFL likes the way he officiates? Good lord.
No, it means they've already got the guy they want lined up to make sure Peyton gets another ring.

Look, if the Hawks get to the Super Bowl we better hope they either utterly dominate completely and thoroughly from the opening whistle or our team is playing the Texans if we want to see a victory (the league has no investment in Houston so officiating likely would be fair). Ravens = Ray Lewis retirement/goodbye just like Bettis in XL*. Patriots mean a 4th ring for the Northeast darling (only time they lose a SB is to a NY team). Denver means a 2 week media mass jack off over what all Peyton has overcome and how awesome he is and......yadda, yadda, yadda.

Nice to know that accountability still prevails in the NFL.

Man, fans of all teams hate Mike Carey. His calls every game are horrendous. How did this guy ever get to lead a SB crew?

At least he will be accountable to the nation if he screws up. vs the Bears there would have been a fraction of the viewers than for a SB. Carey is a good ref, he just screwed us over that game. Hopefully he is aware that he and his crew did a poor job.

I really do hate threads like this...

I understand where you're coming from, but this announcement genuinely worries me. I'm not with conspiracy theorists, but Mike Carey and his team are by far the worst crew i've seen officiating any game (not even Seahawks ones) this year. I know Refs have to be consistent, but consistently poor? I dunno.

As stated above - it reflects poorly on the league. There is no accountability on Referees it seems.

If this is a Mike Carey is an awful ref thread.. I agree.

If this is a Mike Carey is going to screw us out of a Super Bowl... Those need to stop.

Its a "the league can't expect to be taken seriously if he is going to ref the Super Bowl" thread.

Intentionally screw us? No no no. But I'd be really worried he could do by his sheer ineptitude. He always seems to be affected by external sources, rather than just judging a game on it's own merits.

This is just my opinion of course.

I had heard that Jerome Boger was possibly going to be the Super Bowl ref. Do you have a link to the source of this? Just curious thank you

THIS indeed! If Payton Manning is in a Super Bowl and the Seahawks are not there also, I probably will give it a pass.
I never could understand how western, isolated Denver seems to be in the NFL inner circle and Seattle is not.
Must be the Mr. Ed factor.

I really don't give a shit who officiates what. It has been proven that you must beat the other team well enough to compensate for terrible officiating.

I thought the crew that did the Washington game was fantastic. They let the guys play and I don't remember any bad calls.

I wish those guys would do all our games the rest of the way.
