Not the death sentence it used to be, plus he's young and therefore stands a better chance of a full recovery. Still, pretty scary given there's a reasonable chance he'll lose performance.

My favorite quote on this? Never go full Greg Oden.

I'm just glad this didn't happen to him while at SC. I wouldn't have blamed him if he had taken his entire Junior Year year off.

Was thinking the same thing ...Would have lost massive earnings, if this was done while in college.
Hopefully he recovers ...

Steve Smith (USC/Giants version and Malcolm's older brother) had micro fracture surgery a few years back. He was never the same afterwards and his career ended. Hopefully for Clowney's sake he has a better result.

This is a chance for Clowney to show the league just how much he wants to be a star in the NFL. If he works his butt off to come back from this injury (and makes an impact for the Texans), then he can stick it to his doubters! :179419:

Sucks. "Microfracture" is one of those words thar just seems synonymous with "doom". Has anybody in pro sports ever come out "fixed" on the back side of this surgery? Somebody must have, but damned if I can think of one.

I loved him as a player. BMW (I think?) got the glory but Smith was the more pro-ready.

Based on Clowney's "injury" history, are we even sure that this surgery actually happened? How much did he pay off the doctor to say he did a surgery that never happened?
