Considering the fact that halfway through the season they were on pace to set an NFL record for most passing yards given up in a season, the fact that they didn't finish last is actually an improvement.

The defense finished well - not worried about them. Flowers was replaced, Adams returned, we got sacks. Could use some more turnovers, but on the whole we went for a 5-game stretch in which we only allowed 14.5 points per game.
I'm not a Norton fan, but credit where credit is due - the D improved over the season.

The D was playing well enough for a deep playoff run, maybe NFCCG, if our offense didn't suck. Norton did better the last half, maybe even top 10 D the 2nd half. D didn't lose the playoff game for us.

Nor did they actually play all that well. Saying they didn’t lose us the game is not a good way to try to say they were good. The offense lost the game, period, but the D went against John Wolford for a second then a QB with no thumb and against an offense that hadn’t scored a touchdown in like 3 weeks.olyfan63":3l0bg2x5 said:
