I sure hope some who posted in the preseason remember this game for a long time. There were multiple posts about his salary and that we should cut him to save money for future signings. I even read some who thought that our new rookies (Bailey and Bowie) could easily replace his pace as both a guard and OT.

So for those who thought this it only shows that just because a guy is a veteran and makes a decent amount of money doesn't mean that we should automatically get rid of him for a cheaper and younger player.

It's a good thing that our coaches understand this point.

Good job McQuistan!

McQuistan had a pretty rough game, but as far as just being a band-aid trying to close up an open wound, he held together, so I give him some props.

We REALLY need for Okung to be healthy going forward though ....

he got beat on the plays that mattered and i think the only reason he played besides the rookie was he knows the playbook

We don't win this game without him. End of story.
How do you figure that? The defense held the Niners to 3 points. We were leading 5-0 when he came in and gave up two ugly sacks and was blown up in the running game by Aldon Smith. I like his versatility but he didn't play well. Our defense won the game.

The point is that other than him we have no experienced OT depth right now at all. In addition both Bailey and Bowie were inactive for this game. So the fact that he may not have been great is besides the point that he did an adequate job considering the situation.

But I do hope that we don't have both rookies on the inactive list again. It made out OL depth really weak for this game.
