Nailed it! We want youth, we like them young, experience are over rated. Only Brady and Mark Davis care about experience. Not likely going to happen. Mike McCarthy has proven that he is willing to wait things out. While having experience is nice, having a SuperBowl winning HC that was relatively successful recently calling your plays potentially opens up a whole can of worms for MacDonald who is still trying to establish himself.
Yeah, based who we've brought in and our previous hire (Grubb) he definitely seems to have a certain MO. He really seems to favor the guys with little to no coaching experience at their respective positions. What is even more perplexing is that all of these guys come from systems that are known for their passing prowess. All of these guys are very young too.Mac wants a certain kind of guy, this isn't a decision solely by JS, Grubb was that guy.
All of these candidates have aspirations of becoming a head coach someday. I'm sure they look at Seattle with a bridge quarterback and a GM who doesn't know how to construct an offensive line and don't see themselves being in a position to have a lot of success.Yeah, based who we've brought in and our previous hire (Grubb) he definitely seems to have a certain MO. It seems like we're having a hard time nailing people down. Klint is probably going to go for the Houston job and the Lions candidate pulled out. For whatever reason this doesn't seem like a popular destination right now.
Based on what I saw in Houston this year, please no.Slovik?
But wouldn't the opportunity to coach under Mike Mcdonald enough? All of these candidates have aspirations of becoming a head coach someday. That is likely the problem. We still are not sure what we have in MacDonald exactly. it was a mixed bag, a lot of good but also some bad. He definitely had a lot of growing pains, especially in the mid part of the season. His staff is also equally as inexperienced, which I think ultimately lead to many of our issues. But wouldn't the opportunity to coach under Mike Mcdonald enough?
Yeah I concur. And I don’t know why but his name rattled in my head.I brought this up in the Slowik thread. It would be nice, but seems unlikely.
Has he learnt his lesson about hiring guys with little to no experience? Something about those hires say to me that they will be the second or third tier choices by this organization if we do hire one of them. Kubiak is the only guy I recall hearing about lately and there is even rumors that he's looking to looking to stay in the NO area.Has he learnt his lesson about hiring guys with little to no experience? Of the people being talked about as being in the running Kubiak, Brown and Leftwich all have NFL OC experience I wouldn't be surprised of one of them got the job.
Maybe Macdonald doesn't need a babysitter anymore?Matt Nagy is the OC for KC so wouldn't that be a lateral move? You'd have to add Assistant HC to the title. Not sure what would happen to Leslie Frazier then.
Not lateral because he doesn’t call plays in KC which he would here so the only way KC could block it is if they let him call plays in KCMatt Nagy is the OC for KC so wouldn't that be a lateral move? You'd have to add Assistant HC to the title. Not sure what would happen to Leslie Frazier then.
Ok but how do they really know who calls plays and who doesn't. Thought they went just by title. Interesting. Not lateral because he doesn’t call plays in KC which he would here so the only way KC could block it is if they let him call plays in KC
